The nose is tart and dry, lemony, peppery, yeasty, citrusy. The flavor is spicy, waxy, yeasty, mildly astringent, too much hop astringency. Wish the palate had less of the bitterness, nice spicy peppery character though. bb (2930), Martinez, California, USA

Bright aromas of citrus, bitter-sour orange peel, white pepper and flowers. Coriander and clove as well. Subtle bready sweetness with a snappy, herbal bitterness. Very pleasant and enjoyable saison with a bit of an edge to it. ucusty (1915), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Classic example of the style, also my first beer from this somewhat prestigious brewery. Clear gold pour fluffy white head and spotty lace. Earthiness, lemon and some barnyard. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2008 As much as I like the rustic style of saison, this beer has a lot of woodsy aggressive flavors that seem over the top. It is quite bitter and very neary sour to taste. Mellow gold color and a biting finish. kidmartinek (1001), austin, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 18, 2008 A pleasure to look at.Slightly cloudy, bright gold beer with a voluminous pure white head that holds a good while. Exhibits pearly carbonation. Aroma of musty earthen malt, peat, yeast, leaves, and dirt. Flavor is welcoming, mineral-like easy going, tree bark, very bitter hops, a little sweet citrus, and some fruity effervescence. Slightly dry texture. Smooth mouthfeel with a good bite in the finish. fidelis83 (729), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 16, 2008 Pours a very light moderately hazy golden yellow witha tall, foamy white head. Head has great retention and decent lacing. Aroma is clove, coriander, orange peel, yeasty bread, and a mellow bit of musty funk. Flavor is peppered fresh orange peels at first, with some wet leaves and sweet clover flowers to follow. Midway through is some nice sweet apples and pears, wrap those in a light musty wet leaf and you lead into the finish. Quite playful at the end really pepper and carmel covered, yeast heavy orange dinner rolls dance along to there own tune while a spicy and floral hop bouquet opens under their feet. I must say I really enjoyed this brew. ilherps (233), Carbondale, Illinois, USA
