Bottle @ ORL throwdown, courtesy of PhillyBeer2112. Golden pour topped with a light fluffy big head. Nice nose: bananas, bready, a touch of bitter hops, pepper, colves and some sweet malt background. In the mouth its slightly sweet malts, cloves, a touch of bitterness, and some banana phenols. The finish seemed a little too sweet and too long. Still a pretty decent saison.

From a 750. The body was pale gold with a white head. The aroma was funky perfume and sweat as you woudl expect. There was also some dry hay. The taste was spicy and lightly medicinal with some bread crust. Good, but I expected a little more from Boulevard. Like their other special brews, not bad, just a little underwhelming.

Bottle... SMAACMSM O-Town Throwdown, Part Sept... Cloudy, straw-colored ale with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Excellent retention. Spicy, yeasty essences of coriander, citrus fruit, white pepper and pale grains. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Spicy and fairly well-bittered. Lengthy, bitter/dry finish. Not at all my thing. Kudos to PhillyBeer2112 for bringing this one to share! The final chapter of the Smokestack series for me.

Objectively speaking: An awesome example of which one glass was not enough.
I like: Very fresh opening. Healthy white head. Charming meringue notes combine with the wheat to form a remarkably refreshing package. The yeast whispers spicy messages. Crisp hay-like maltiness. Remarkably attenuated for an American example.
I dislike: I only dislike how hard it is to take possession of.

Bottle (750ml) shared at ’Biegaman’s Second Annual Saison Tasting’ -- courtesy of grub. Batch S72. Pours a murky yellow-gold with an average size somewhat-lasting frothy white head. Nice yeasty aroma along with citrus, more fruit, spices and light floral hops. Flavour’s yeasty, spicy, citrusy and floral. Dry bitter finish. Medium bodied. Great stuff, I could easily drink the whole bottle!

(Rating #1725)

750ml bottle poured at Noog4. Onion yellow pour with a light head. Very nice aroma; floral with hints of lemon. The flavor is fairly soft which I enjoyed. I think it is easy to over do the spicy or sour side of a saison and this strikes a good balance. Funky hay with light citrus (lemon) and touch of spice. Tasty. Wet medium body and mouth feel. Good stuff.

Tasted at Noogfest 4.0 (2008). This saison pours a pale copper gold color from a 750ml bottle. The aroma was fruity, spicy and citrusy with a slight touch of funk. A medium bodied saison. The malts are fruity and sweet. Nice citrusy, yeasty flavors and spices. Light and refreshing. Touch of peeper at the finish. Good carbonation. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly spicy.
