2005-05-24. Crisp yellow body with a small white head (3+). Zippy spicy aroma, light coriander. (7+) Flavour is quite dry, notes of lemon, straw, and muted grass. (7+) Smooth light palate is on the thin side but it suits it. Solid saison. Bottle shared by Biegaman

My Bottom Line:
Fresh herbal hops mingle with meticulous bubblegum phenols as citrusy fruitiness and minty Saaz-y bitterness jig and jive ad vitam aeternam. This Saison is so cohesive and easygoing, I would not be able to get tired of it.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam straddles the hazy pale blond.
-The body is fluffy and light enough to be make this exceedingly drinkable.
-The entire flavor profile is balanced and perfectly organized.
-Effervescence is comfortable and serves the body beautifully.
-Some milky undertones come from the yeast.

Bottles.

Sampled at Paul’s Hoboken gathering. Hazy blonde, light orange in color with a lasting medium white head. The aroma was very nice with alot of peppery phenols, lemon rind, musty yeast, light funk. Taste is citrus (light orange), lemon rind, peppery and musty yeast, light funk, with a light honey sweetness and a dry finish. I could drink this every day and not get tired of it.

Thanks to Jay for bringing this. Pours hazy gold with a frothy white head. Aroma of grass and funk. Taste much the same, with notes of orange and spice. This is a very classic Saison, very much to style. Well done.

Bottle (750ml). At 2nd Annual Summer Saison Tasting - beigaman’s bottle. Hazy gold pour with an average frothy white head. Dry sweet malt aroma with clover, grassy hops and lots of lemon and coriander. The taste was also dry, somewhat sweet, but quite spicy and grassy. Average body, solid astringent spice/yeast with a long bitter finish that finally suggested "marigold" to me. Very well made, I think this might have been my favorite saison of the day.

A cloudy yellow appearance with a white head. The aroma is spicy and contains some pears, lemons, and hay. The flavor is rather sour with a good dose of lemons showing through. A spicy finish on this beer. Overall its pretty simple but not bad.

25 oz bottle. Clear straw yellow on first pour with a nice craggy fizzy white head that left lots of lacing. The nose is fairly dry with a good bit of dried hay and grassy notes. A good slightly spicy yeast character, and a little bread dough. The flavor is pleasant, lots of spicy yeast character with just a bit of that farmhouse funky twang on the finish. The malt sweetness and that twang on the finish work pretty well together. Seems like some leafy almost aged hops on the end as well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lots of fizzy effervescent carbonation. The longer this sat in the glass the better it got with the carbonation settling down some. Pretty decent overall, but I’d really like to try the Brett version now.
