| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 13, 2009 Sweet painting on the label, a 750, corked and caged. Heavy yeast suspension in a yellow-golden body, with a lacing meringue white head. Pale malts in nose with faint ’rustic’ pepper. A little indistinct. Very sweet taste, lemon, lime, and Gala apples. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 8, 2009 750ml corked and caged bottle, batch S8317. I have had this beer before and will have it again, but figured it was time to rate it...this is for you Tim. Pours a slightly hazy pale golden yellow with a huge fluffy head into my Boulevard Tank 7 tulip glass...courtesy of Tim. As it settles a bit, it never goes completely away and looks like fluffy cloud. Leaves behind big fluffy white remnants of the head on the side of the glass as I drink it down. Nose is just great...wheaty dough, some hay, some lemon tartness, clove, slight sweet banana and pink peppercorn. All aromas are playing at the same level to give just a great balance. Right away I am greeted with great carbonation with mild hop bittering in the middle that moves into a slightly sweat wheatiness that quickly picks up the peppercorn and then finishes off back into some bittering while holding onto the slight banana wheatiness. All flavors are again playing well together and the end result is a super refreshing and enjoyable saison. I have had this beer 4 times now and will certainly buy more bottles. Great American made saison.
