Commercial Description:
"Do you know what dwells in a glass?" asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersen's The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

750ml bottle poured into a Trappist glass. BSGQ pours mousy brown with a large head of very tiny bubbles that audibly pop into oblivion. The beer is very murky. The aroma is heavy in wild yeasts. Belgian sugar, alcohol and pear round out the nose. The body is surprisingly thick and highly carbonated. The taste is sweet and aggressively alcoholic. The finish is dusty and bitter like flower petals.

Favorite beer ever. Patterned after Westvleteren (and others) it has an aggressive carbonation to help the ABV seem a bit more tame. Belgian sugars help with a spice/plum/malt/raisin deliciousness that simply can’ be beat. You’re supposed to share this bottle with friends, but once the devil looks in my eyes, I end up drinking the whole thing. It’s a gorgeous beer. Serve it in a wide-mouthed trappist glass and you’ll be happy until, in the sixth glass...

Bottle, courtesy sebletitje. Pours copper reddish color, with a huge vanilla-colored fluffy head and creamy lacing. Nose of dark fruit, some fusel esters, caramel, some chocolate. Smooth, sharp fruits in the mouth, with vanilla, caramel and some Belgian dry yeastiness. Spicy. Medium-bodied, tasty, lacks overall complexity I’ve come to expect from quads, but it’s still yummers.

Thanks sebletitje for the share. Pours a gold and brown color with an off-white head. Aroma is vanilla, raisin, dark fruit, and sugar with a slight alcohol burn. Flavor is some caramel, maple, fruit, spice, and alcohol. Finishes with sweet and some bitter. Enjoyable quad.

courtesy of hwwty4 Pours cloudy orange, with amazing beige/golden head with light golden lacing. Aroma has some sweet vanilla / phenol and notes of esters with notes of malty / toffee aroma. Taste is pretty much same as aroma with good thick mouthfeel, light nutty presence caramel malts, some notes of sweet vanilla, fruity with light apple/pear palate and spices. Finish is lightly bitter. Amazing palate from beginning to end.

Bottle, sampled at Woodshop Quad. Pours a cloudy brown-amber with a small off-white head. Sweet aroma, of malt, preserved citrus, herbs, caramel. Taste is sweet and crisp, of malt, caramel, and preserved citrus. Lingering crisp malt. Tasty.

Dark amber hue with fair clarity, large frothy off-white head sustains. Nose if sweet dark fruits (raisins, figs, cherries), tones of pepper, malts, belgian yeast. Flavor is mostly dark fruits highlighted by figs and raisins, light pepper and spices, hints of Belgian yeast and underlying malts and hops. Full-bodied, moderate-high carbonation, thick and rich texture with fairly hot alcohol warming. Complex Quad with dark fruits complimented by yeast, spices, and malts. Flavors fade too quickly and alcohol is too hot in the end.
