Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

750 ml bottle (Cellar Rat Wine Merchants)-Pours an orangish brown with a nice full tan head. Has an aroma of caramel, dried fruit, yeast, and malt. Taste of fruits, sweetness, caramel, and a bit of alcohol on the back end. This full bodied brew is quite tasty and drinkable for an American made Quad.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Dark brown cloudiness with a robust tan head. Aromas of dark dried fruit, yeast, and sweet malt. Full bodied. Great mix of flavor with prune, raisin, and plum. Long finish and alcohol extremely well hidden. Superb Belgian style Quad.

Sweet malt and molasses with caramel and lesser fruit and spice. 750ml bottle means making a commitment when you open unless sharing with friends. Have to watch the pour as the head can foam over if not careful. Great value for a very drinkable quad.

Bottle courtesy of Dogbrick. Pours a cloudy copper with a big off-white head. Yeasty and malty nose. Flavor is pretty much the same, but very metallic on top of that.
