Pours a cloudy dark amber/ ruby color with a fizzing light beige head. Nose was sweet with candied dark fruits, maple and brown sugar with some spice. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Courtesy TheCheeseMan. The pour yields a hazy, burnt orange to sienna brown colored body. A wispy film and thin, bubbly edge leaves obtuse, foamy lace behind. Aromas are sweet and boozy up front, with notes of sugary caramel, rum soaked figs, and dark, sweet raisons. Vanilla lends a smoothing quality, while hints of earthy spice impart a savory character. Flavors continue the theme, caramel and dark, sweet fruits in the fore, followed by balancing earthy spice and mild hops in the aft. Sugary on the palate up front, the light carbonation leads into a semi-dry, alcoholic finish. This is a decent brew, but ultimately a bit too sugary and hot for my tastes.
