Commercial Description:
"Do you know what dwells in a glass?" asks Ole, in Hans Christian Andersen's The Watchman of the Tower. Better known for stories such as The Little Mermaid, Andersen wrote this short, cautionary tale for a somewhat older audience. Our quadrupel ale, also meant for the mature connoisseur, is a deep and mysterious libation, dark auburn and full-bodied, its sweetness deceptive. As Ole describes the glasses in turn, their contents become more ominous until, in the sixth glass...

Bottle acquired via trade with beastifan2k...Eugene, thanks again!!! Rusty penny pour with a sandy brown head. Spicy, malty brew that includes touches of brown sugar, raisin, molasses, and cherry skins. Medium consistency; not extremely complex but highly drinkable (and yes, I know it’s 10.5% ABV...can definitely get you in trouble). Very tasty!!!

Hazy light brown with a loose auburn head. Banana, raisin, cocoa and tart apple aroma. Sweet, full bodied and well carbonated, making for a rich palate. Fruity malt flavor with plum and pomegranate. Quite nice.

Clear white fast disappearing head. Clear red ruby with a hint of orange. Malty nose with just a little hops. Flavors of caramel candy, light booze and a dry almost sour finish. Light to medium creamy body.

Bottle from Wine and Cheese Place in (near) St. Louis, MO. Pours reddish copper with a fizzy sparkling tan head. Aroma of yeast spice and sugary light and dark fruits. Aroma tickles my nose. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is dark fruit, treacle, dark malt. Sweet then goes astringent. Mildly bitter. Really exceptionally tasty. Not quite Westy 12, but pretty good.

Pours an amber brown with a nice tan head that has good retention. Nose is dark fruit, yeast, and alcohol. Ok, more dark fruit. Flavor is pretty much the same and is pretty darned good! Throw in some caramel and toffee for good measure. Feel is nice and zesty. Delicious!

Bottle at Anchor, Wichita. Pours a deep, thick amber with a quick-rising head that leaves a nice lacing around the tulip glass. Aromas of sweet plumb and slight sugar swirl around in the nose and linger throughout the duration of drinking this beer. A blend of rich plumb and molasses swirls on the taste buds and tickles each one with a light prick of yeasty bread. Thick and full mouthfeel. Satisfying beer.
