Tap at Falling Rock - turbid gold with a well-sustained head, that leaves lace clinging all the way down the glass as you drink - a bit sweet (apple) and phenolic up front, but it dries out pretty fast - some subtle rustic, earthy, almost funky character to it - some herbal, grassy flavors, even a bit peppery - starts to get even more dry, and even flinty at the end, and through the finish, leaving a crisp, dry feeling on the tongue - a very nice saison, but I would like a little less sweetness up front.

On draft at the Austin Whip-In - nice to see they have this one. A nice hazy gold with a small ring of white head. Aroma included a bit of barnyard funk, grass, and pleasant floral notes. Flavor is rich with sweet fruits, apple, pine, and citrus. Also a nice spicy bite. Pleasant leafy hop presence. This one’s fairly dry and tingly throughout, with a nicely dry finish. Very drinkable, a pleasant beer. Looking forward to trying the brett version...

Draught @ brewery tour: This one poured a slightly hazy golden color. There was a good sized white head on it that left some lacing. This one has a complex nose. Grassy, earthy, spicy, yeasty, floral, some lemon. It has an equally good taste. I like the little kick of bitterness in there. A bit of citrus and slight piny hops, earthiness, coriander, This is a very nice brew.

Draft at Cicero’s in the U-City Loop. Somewhat cloudy clear gold color with a tiny white head. Lemony, alcoholic aroma with some yeast and sweet malt. The flavor is also citrusy and alcoholic, with notes of spices, pepper, yeast, and hops. Not as smooth or easy to drink as a lot of other saisons, probably because of the alcohol, but also because it’s a bit spicier. Light bodied and sharp. Interesting take on the style.

Sampled at Flying Saucer’s Second Annual Fall Beer Festival in Austin on October 24, 2009. Looks like a wit. Cloudy-clear yellow color. Aroma of lemon. Light & spicy. Light syrupy... Flavor. Very wit-like and citrusy Saison. Sweet aftertaste. Smells very sour. Again, very cutrusy.

draft from Falling Rock in Denver - Pours lightly hazy gold with a white, lingering head. The aroma is malty and yeasty with fruit notes. The flavor is sweet bready malt and some citrus along with dry farmhouse characteristics and moderately strong hops. It’s medium to full bodied and quite bubbly. Very tasty brew.

Draft at the Eldridge in Lawrence KC. Pours a hazy copper body with a white head. Chewy fruit y body pear and citrus esters. Fruity musk y pear notes. Chewy coriander and a floral musk. Much to my enjoyment.
