Commercial Description:

No. 8 in the Boulevard Smokestack Series. "Double Witbier"

Conventional wisdom holds that there are two sides to every story. Though our new Two Jokers Double-Wit is hardly conventional, there are in fact two distinct pieces to its personality. On the one hand, it’s a revival of the classic Belgian “wit,” or “white” beer, a style dating back to the late 1800s. The use of lactic fermentation and ingredients like coriander and orange peel are hallmarks of the style, as are the cloudiness and the pale color that give the beer its name. On the other hand, it’s a modern, uniquely American specialty brew; big, flavorful, and spiced with cardamom, lavender, and grains of paradise. Two Jokers has a refreshing tartness, nicely balanced by a well rounded malt bill graced by notes of caramel. Belgian yeast brings floral aromas with hints of banana and clove, and a citrusy zing to the tongue. Two Jokers Double-Wit pairs well with the lighter fare of spring and summer, such as grilled fish or chicken, feta cheese, fresh garden salads, and fruit compotes. Look closely now: is it two jesters on the label, or a single beautiful glass of beer?

Alcohol is hidden well. Seems like Sam Adams came out w/ one that was pretty hot. Good strong coriander flavor. Easy drinker. Would like to try again. Tossed in a lemon towards the end just for grins and it was a mistake.

Cloudy orange, huge white head. Nice yeasty, fruity aroma - sweet and citrus. Flavor is a nice mix of fruity - citrus with a lot of lemon and orange, plus a sublte spicyness. Insanely drinkable, especially for 8%. Really nice beer. Thanks to theisti for the trade!

750 ml bottle from the beerhive. Pours a cloudy straw color with a large white head. A sweet, spicy aroma, orange peel and coriander dominate. A full flavor of spices, oranges, yeast and dry malty flavors. Pretty nice. Easygoing and tasty.

750ml Big Bomber – Gravity Beer Market – Olympia, WA
Aroma: Big malt aroma with the Belgian yeast coming through.
Appearance: Straw like Golden in color, Hazy with a light head.
Flavor: Malty with lots of spice and Belgian yeast.
Palate: Dry Finish, with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall: A very good Belgian wit this was a great beer and the price for a 750 was very low so it was good. Lots of spice and yeast flavors made this a terrific brew.

After trying to pop the cork for 5 minutes it poured a nice cloudy gold when held to the light with a pale yellow head. Two finger. Smells very floral with orange peel, clove, coriander, and citrusy bitterness. Lots to smell here almost snorted some foam there for a bit. First drink was citrusy-sweet orange-banana held up by a spicy floral hop bitterness. If swigged too much can become a bit overpowering. Nice wit though.

Pours a pale hazy orange. Aroma of orange, clove and slight nutmeg. Orange, citrus, clove, spice flavors. Quite a wonderful array of flavors.

The sole reason I bought this beer when i saw it is that it was ’born in’ Kansas City, just like I was. Pours a beautiful hazy blonde with a lovely coriander-orange-lavender nose. On the tongue, delicate feathers of malt hit the palate with a nice balance between the malt, sour, spice, and floral components. I’m glad i saved this one for autumn; the ’double’ strength of this beer pushes it firmly from summer into autumn. A beautiful beer, i hope to get to have it in the future.
