2009 Bottle - Thanks BgThang! - Pours a hazy pale yellow with a large off white head...aroma is spicy, mint?, lemon and banana, grain, worcester?...flavour is similar, too much shit going on here, orange and grapefruit tartness, lavender and clove, sweet doughy malt that even further complicates, definitely not a wit...I swear the bottom of the glass the shit tastes like ketchup somehow... too much, too much...

Corked 750ml bottle and served in my Hoegaarden tumbler: Deep apple cider golden hue with a bouncy frothy white head and okay lacing upon the glassware. The aroma has a lots of coriander and orange zest vapours, wheat husks and biscuity malts, floral esters, hint of lemon and banana too. The taste is quite fruity and acidic but is also quite sweeter and almost cloying for the genre. I want my witbiers to be ultra refreshing and these "imperialized" wits (and weizens for that matter) are not what the doktor ordered. Lots of spice seems to run interference against the twangy fruits, muddled and lacks focus. The major redeeming value of the beer is the mouth feel which is lively and smooth before a bolt of alcohol cleanses the palate (which in this case is a good thing). While this beer at the end of day is hardly a drain pour, it simply does not meet my wants and needs for the style, period.

RANT ON: Stop it already, quit super sizing styles that simply do not take to doubling or tripling of the base ingredients. I do not care if your a world-class brewer like New Glarus or a local micro, you almost always will fail. Stick to doing a classic style well... if you can... but not doing "phoned in or paint-by-numbers" examples of the more common styles. We as a community need more WELL DONE, BEER GEEK WORTHY examples of olde skool but still complex witbiers, hefeweizens, pilsners, bitters, brown ales etc... I respect brewers who demonstrate the art of brewing by doing classic styles better than most of their peers... END RANT, Mike

Picked up a single 750 ml bottle from Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, MN. Pours a hazy golden orange colored brew with a thick off-white head that has some nice retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of multi-grain and golden grain malt, coriander, orange peel, and a touch of spice. Taste is medium to full bodied, plenty of thick multi-grain malt, coriander and spiced oranges. Finish is quite smooth, a touch spicy in the background with a lingering malt and orange aftertaste.

Pours cloudy deep yellow with a big white head. Spicy orange aroma. Thick mouthfeel. Spice, orange rind taste. A bit cloying which I wasn’t expecting. Very well done but a bit too thick for me for being a wit.

Alcohol is hidden well. Seems like Sam Adams came out w/ one that was pretty hot. Good strong coriander flavor. Easy drinker. Would like to try again. Tossed in a lemon towards the end just for grins and it was a mistake.

Cloudy orange, huge white head. Nice yeasty, fruity aroma - sweet and citrus. Flavor is a nice mix of fruity - citrus with a lot of lemon and orange, plus a sublte spicyness. Insanely drinkable, especially for 8%. Really nice beer. Thanks to theisti for the trade!

750 ml bottle from the beerhive. Pours a cloudy straw color with a large white head. A sweet, spicy aroma, orange peel and coriander dominate. A full flavor of spices, oranges, yeast and dry malty flavors. Pretty nice. Easygoing and tasty.

750ml Big Bomber – Gravity Beer Market – Olympia, WA
Aroma: Big malt aroma with the Belgian yeast coming through.
Appearance: Straw like Golden in color, Hazy with a light head.
Flavor: Malty with lots of spice and Belgian yeast.
Palate: Dry Finish, with a Good Mouthfeel.
Overall: A very good Belgian wit this was a great beer and the price for a 750 was very low so it was good. Lots of spice and yeast flavors made this a terrific brew.
