Commercial Description:

No. 8 in the Boulevard Smokestack Series. "Double Witbier"

Conventional wisdom holds that there are two sides to every story. Though our new Two Jokers Double-Wit is hardly conventional, there are in fact two distinct pieces to its personality. On the one hand, it’s a revival of the classic Belgian “wit,” or “white” beer, a style dating back to the late 1800s. The use of lactic fermentation and ingredients like coriander and orange peel are hallmarks of the style, as are the cloudiness and the pale color that give the beer its name. On the other hand, it’s a modern, uniquely American specialty brew; big, flavorful, and spiced with cardamom, lavender, and grains of paradise. Two Jokers has a refreshing tartness, nicely balanced by a well rounded malt bill graced by notes of caramel. Belgian yeast brings floral aromas with hints of banana and clove, and a citrusy zing to the tongue. Two Jokers Double-Wit pairs well with the lighter fare of spring and summer, such as grilled fish or chicken, feta cheese, fresh garden salads, and fruit compotes. Look closely now: is it two jesters on the label, or a single beautiful glass of beer?

Pours hazy orange gold with a thick white head. Aroma is apricot and banana fruit, corriander spice, wheat malt, slight alc? Flavour is Orange, apricot, banana fruits some honey sweetness, spice again and some floral (the lavender I guess) light bitterness. Interesting, though not as tart or crisp as I’d like.

Pours deep orange / amber with a large light beige head. The aroma has rich wheat, lots of orange, lightly powdery, spices and quite a bit of yeast - nice. Medium / full body with some crispness and good amount of sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with rich wheat, lots of orange, lactic acid, power, but still a good bit of sweetness. The taste is fairly crisp considering the high alcohol. The finish has quite a bit of spice. Very nice beer from Boulevard.

Bottle, thanks to Eugene at the grand tasting. Thick blond pour. Strong banana and candy sugar aroma typical of belgian triples. So, i think a double white is like a belgian triple. Pretty sweet and tasty, syrupy a little in the mouthfeel.

Bottle. Beautiful hazy orangeish brown pour, with a one finger foamy off white head. Aroma of pleasant fruitiness, including, oranges, cherries, spices such as pepper, coriander and clove. Flavor has some tartness and bitterness, and some orange, lemon peel, and bread/yeast.

Color is a yellow gold with a slight haze. Carbonation is very good with a big rocky white head. Aroma is spicy with scents of coriander and pepper. Taste is peppery and metallic. Starting with a lighter medium body it goes down with a crisp feel. Finish is spicy with flavors of coriander pepper and a hint of orange this is followed by a mild bitterness. After taste is metallic with a little more bitterness hanging on. I was excepting more from this brew, its not bad by any means but also not one of the better Whites I have had. The metallic fades as you drink it and that was the only downfall to it.

Creamed wheat, orange, and floral yeasty aromas. Rich golden orange color with an off white bubbly head and good lacing. Flavor is bright and fruity. Initial puch of juicy fruit, continues with a spiciness and a light cheese flavor in the finish. Lemon like overtones through the middle. Tartness comes through. Palate is rich enough, sweet and some bitter sourness on the finish. Alcohol is lightly noticable. Nice lingering flavors on the finish. Dry enough but a nice litttle bit of sweetness.

Pours nice head pale in color. Nose is bready yeast, lemon zest, corander and spices, taste is the same. Overcarbonated, but the body is nice. The lingering sour on the palette is enjoyable as well, but this beer is slightly unbalanced in my opinion.

It poured hazy golden-orange with plenty of sticky off white foam, settling rather quickly. I smell plenty of spices and fruits; cardamom, clove, oranges and alcohol. It tastes slightly tart with nice sweetness from the Belgian yeast. Tremendously drinkable. It’s delicious.
