Commercial Description:

No. 8 in the Boulevard Smokestack Series. "Double Witbier"

Conventional wisdom holds that there are two sides to every story. Though our new Two Jokers Double-Wit is hardly conventional, there are in fact two distinct pieces to its personality. On the one hand, it’s a revival of the classic Belgian “wit,” or “white” beer, a style dating back to the late 1800s. The use of lactic fermentation and ingredients like coriander and orange peel are hallmarks of the style, as are the cloudiness and the pale color that give the beer its name. On the other hand, it’s a modern, uniquely American specialty brew; big, flavorful, and spiced with cardamom, lavender, and grains of paradise. Two Jokers has a refreshing tartness, nicely balanced by a well rounded malt bill graced by notes of caramel. Belgian yeast brings floral aromas with hints of banana and clove, and a citrusy zing to the tongue. Two Jokers Double-Wit pairs well with the lighter fare of spring and summer, such as grilled fish or chicken, feta cheese, fresh garden salads, and fruit compotes. Look closely now: is it two jesters on the label, or a single beautiful glass of beer?

The sole reason I bought this beer when i saw it is that it was ’born in’ Kansas City, just like I was. Pours a beautiful hazy blonde with a lovely coriander-orange-lavender nose. On the tongue, delicate feathers of malt hit the palate with a nice balance between the malt, sour, spice, and floral components. I’m glad i saved this one for autumn; the ’double’ strength of this beer pushes it firmly from summer into autumn. A beautiful beer, i hope to get to have it in the future.

750 ml bottle Batch 1. Consumed in a BLVD Smokestack Series glass. Color was somewhat yellow orange that was sort of hazy. Poured with a nice head that partially dissipated. Lots of carbonation that lasted the entire time the beverage was consumed. The first thing noticeable was the tartness of the beer. However, in no way does that take away from this gem. Coriander is noticeable and there are hints of citrus and wheat. Medium light body. Once again, the Smokestack Series does not disappoint. This beer is incredibly enjoyable. Not like other wit beers that I have had, but I would choose this over Allagash White or Hoegaarden any day.

Beautiful light orange pour with a citrus and spice filled nose. Flavor was clean and refreshing with a nice white head. Felt very nice on the palate and had a very nice balance. (not too sweet, sour, bitter, etc). a great witbier.

Huge spicy and fruity floral bouquet on this brew. Coriander and orange is very noticeable. A touch of fresh lavender as well with some bread and yeast notes. Pours a hazy mellow orange with a nice fizzy white head that last. Amble carbonation makes this brew extremely refreshing and you savor and get exited for every sip. Intensely crisp and quite quaffable.. WOW! Flavor is classic here.. Belgium wit... Spice, orange, tartness, a tad of clove and a sharp but distant sour finish.. Another fantastic Smokestack series Beer from a GEM of a brewery!!!"

Golden cloudy color, strong head. Citrus aroma. Tangy taste, very well balanced. Not mouth-puckering, but rather mouth watering. Palate kind of sticky. I do not have much experience with double wits, but this beer was very enjoyable. Light bodied, with much character.

Pours a cloudy golden color with an off-white head. Lots of carbonation in the smokestack bottle. Nose of belgian yeast - cotton candy, maybe a bit of citrus. The tart aftertaste in the back of the mouth hits - it’s full of flavor. And the initial shock of the tart goes away after one or two sips and you’re left with a refreshing beverage with a nice flavor - not as much cotton candy on the yeast as the nose would have you believe. Nice one to crack and look for corriander and what not, while you kick back in a hammock.

Corked bottle. Coriander, clove, orange, and wheat malt aroma. Cloudy orange-yellow color with minimal head. Sweet coriander/cinnamon, orange and wheat malt flavor - very nicely blended. Very tasty - an excellent witbier.

It poured hazy golden-orange with plenty of sticky off white foam, settling rather quickly. I smell plenty of spices and fruits; cardamom, clove, oranges and alcohol. It tastes slightly tart with nice sweetness from the Belgian yeast. Tremendously drinkable. It’s delicious.
