yngwie (3322), Kristiansand, Norway May 6, 2008 Bottle at the Belgian Embassy in Oslo. I really though I had rated this a long time ago, and I sure have had it on some occasions, but finally a rating entered. It pours a copper to amber body, hazy, with a beige head. Slightly sourish, vinegarish nose, still sweetish, with dried fruits and malts. The flavor starts with dried fruits and a sourish note, not as sourish as I could wish for, actually it’s quite sweet too. The dried fruits, sourness and sweetness goes all the way into the finish. Full-bodied and slightly sticky. It’s a nice beer, still I wish it was more hardcore. (080410)
RomanW70 (270), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Jul 15, 2008 Bottle at Restobier in Brussels on June 22. Pord dark reddish brown with aromas of wine, dark fruits, and funk. taste is similir, a little on the sweet side. Tastes like a fairly typical Flemish Red (why isn’t that a category???). TrefwoordPunk (356), Leiden, Netherlands Jun 12, 2008 Bottle 33 cl. Pours a weird dark color for a beer with this smell and taste. The aroma is sour, with apple and grape elements like it’s a a wine or cider. The taste starts out sour but than gets sweet with a silky mouthfeel. Drinkable beer, but I wouldn’t buy one again FrankJohansen (2549), Sabro, Denmark Jun 2, 2008 Bottle. Dark brownish colour with a huge mostly lasting off white head. Rich malty aroma and taste with heavy notes of fruits and caramel. Not much sourness to be detected. bhensonb (2713), Woodland, California, USA May 28, 2008 Tap at Cambrinus in Brugge. Very dark color - garnet when held to the light. Lacing light tan head. Near medium body. Very mild carbonation. It’s sour, but it’s not. It’s smooth. Aroma has a hint of sour. It’s almost like drinking lightly sour cherry - though kriek it’s not. Very refreshing. Cambrinus is pushing this one. Maybe they like it. beastiefan2k (1055), Hicksville, New York, USA May 26, 2008 Pours a dark red cola color with a small but strong khaki head. Aroma is sweet, musky cherry which is slightly syrupy and artificial. Taste us much weaker on the cherry with light fruity sweetness. Finishes a bit mineral which takes away from the traditional slightly sour Flanders aspect. Its still easy drinking and generally light, a beginners beer for this style. 25cL bottle from Beer Mania, BB 30/05/09, hotel room plastic cup on 5/16/09.
