[2440-20090813] Can. Corn fruit aroma has mild wheatie pancakes and raspberries. Slightly hazy, light brown orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Grainy lightly fruity corn flavour has a long sweet grain aftertaste. Light-medium body. Fair.

2009-08-13. Orange body with a modest beige head. Muted aroma, light leafy vegetation notes, muted malt, fruit touches. Flavour is likewise, vegetation touches, odd fruity character. Average to light bodied palate. Not particularly pleasant. Bit odd. Can shared by PubStyle

Surprisingly good offering and good value from Bowen. Compared to most other beers Bowen puts out and other beers in this price range it is a solid pick.

This is a discount beer so I wasn’t expection very much from it but my friend made me try it and it’s actually not too bad, once you get over the smell. It smells kind of like sweet wet hay, not something you want to stick in your mouth. The taste is muted at first and then you get the flavour. The aftertaste isn’t great and there’s a little something in the flavour that’s just a bit off, but overall it isn’t bad and the value for the price is quite suprprising. Most beers that cost this little are nearly un-palatable.

Pours a reddish copper colour with a frothy white head. Aroma is sweet, almost like a honey brown. Notes of caramel, nuts, and a little spice. Tastes of malt, honey, some floral notes, metal and a decent bitter finish. A little flat on the palate and not much finish. For the price this is a really good beer.

355ml can. Pours orange/amber, head is off white and has good retention. Malt nose, some nut and bread and caramel. Flavour has caramel malt, toasted malt with light hop notes (Goldings?). Light bodied, carbonation is mild. Drinkable and good for it’s price.

Can. Clear amber, moderate head with surprising retention and even some early lacing. Aroma of bread crusts and dry leaves. Nice toasted malt palate with an earthy hop finish. This is a welcome surprise from a can, and cheap too!
