23rd February 2008. Brewed with caramel. Fairly complex caramel flavours. Some stouty dark malt. Dry finish - not too bitter.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a foamy tan head. Sweet roasted caramel with some dark fruit - probably raisin. Near full bodied with frothy carbonation. Flavor is sweet roast caramel with some anise, and probably some raisin. It carries a bit of heat. Finishes a bit gummy, towards dry. One is enough.

Brown coloured beer with little carbonation and a small off-white head. Rather smooth, little sweet roasted malty aroma. Medium to full palate. Finish is light bitter with sweeter light roasted touches with an alcoholic finish. Medium one.

Bottle from a Brugge nightshop. Sweet, slightly nutty caramel and malt loaf aroma, with a scattering of raisins. Liquorice showing through in the mouth, with plain but pleasant dark fruit and yeasty dubbel-ish flavours. Faint fizz and climbing suds. Opaque and stouty. Some ash and tobacco. Liquorice becoming increasingly obvious as it warms. Not bad at all.

A Mes rate: 33cl bottle at Kerstfest, Essen.
Black red with a decent tan head. Sweet roasty malt aroma with plenty of yeast, spice, christmas fruit. Very sweet yeasty flavour with some nice smoky malt. Interesting but not amazing. Smoke develops nicely in the finish.

33 cL bottle, Kerstbierfestival 2007 in Essen/Belgium. Pours dark brown with a lacing light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, dried fruity note and mild yeasty tone. Flavour is slight breadish with a note of dried fruit. Remains un-sweet without really becoming dry. Finish is breadish with a faint note of fruit. Nice brew by all means.
