trapez (196), Hilleroed, Denmark Jun 22, 2008 Bottle 0.5l. Very characteristic and unique aroma from the kombination of pine needle and blackthorn. The aroma is at a very high level. Colour golden amber with medium white head. Flavour not so characteristic as would be expected from the aroma, but both pine, honey and hobs can be identified. I’m not aware that the Vikings used pine woods? Medium carbonation.
Hansen (1680), Randers, Denmark Aug 30, 2008 Funny name, difficult to say..Draupnir. Should be spiced with sloe, which I cant detect. Golden coloured, almost clear. Some spicy notes in the aroma, wich I dont like. pilsnerrogge (1589), Finspång, Sweden Aug 4, 2008 Swing-top bottle Pours copper orange with a foamy head. Sweet honey aroma with notes of caramel and sloe. Flavour is more sweet honey but most of all moss and Labrador-tea, lots of Labrador-tea. I’ve just realized that I really dislike the taste of Labrador-tea. Miksu (1253), Jyväskylä, Finland Jul 20, 2008 0.5 l bottle. Hazy copper to amber color with creamy head. Sweet, tart, honeyish and perfumed aroma with notes of cloudberry and solvent. The taste has weird herbal-spicy-soapy bitterness with notes of honey, berries and ginger. It is always interesting to taste a beer made with exotic ingredients, but I didn’t like the herbal-perfumed taste. Reminds my experiments of using yarrow in beer. charlotte (1194), Vanløse, Denmark Jul 7, 2008 Amber colour with small head.Aroma is spicey and sweet malty with touch of honey and pine.Flavor of wood and caramel soft mouth feels and light dry finish. NosirIwont (864), Aalborg Vestby, Denmark Jul 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours amber golden with an off-white head and a nice lacing. Sweet spicy aroma. Powerful and with a sharp acidic touch. As it warms, notes of pine stand out. Spicy flavour. Lots of pine with notes of honey in the background. Finish is the same, although it gets sweeter as it warms. The pines are very dominating and becomes cloying in the long run. It’s interesting, but not really my thing. 02-07-08.
