Blom (568), Odense, Denmark May 1, 2008 Black with a firm grey head. Sweet aroma with notes of roasted bread. The flavour is dominated by English liquorice, dark chocolate, coughing juice and sirup. A bit one-sided perhaps, but nevertheless quite good.
Mogwai (150), Askeby, Denmark Jul 9, 2008 Bottle 50 cl. Pours a dark red / black colour with small beige head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and malt. Flavor is much of the same, with hops and spices. Very good. bgburdman9 (703), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 24, 2008 An old rating i finally got to entering. Aroma was a little weak with a little chocolate. Flavor was a little weak also with a little alcohol coming through. Wow those are some weak notes. pint_size (1000), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 4, 2008 5-25-08 bottle shared by the super Miketd
Dark red black brown with little to no head at all. Smell is really mild and subtle - I can barely pick up anything at all. Flavor is roasted burnt meat and a hint smoky almost. Not very "imperial stout" like but not awful. Drinkable, enjoyable and wouldn’t turn it down if it was offered to me. It was just not really what I was expecting. lb4lb (1271), Austin, Texas, USA May 30, 2008 Shared by none other than Miketd. Thanks again dude!
Pours black with a small light beige head. Smell is moderate dusty and fresh chocolate. Taste is smooth and chocolately with a slight dry bittersweetness. Medium to full bodied and appropriate carbonation. Pretty tasty stuff. BlackForestCO (478), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA May 27, 2008 Bottle shared by miketd at lb4lb’s tasting. Poured a deep brown/black color with a moderate beige head that diminished to a ring. Aroma of bittersweet chocolate, light roast, chalk, and a hint of fruitiness. Smooth, lightly chalky entry leads into a dry, bittersweet chocolate maltiness with a weird dry yeastiness. Smooth on the palate, moderately dry with some chalkiness. Not sure what it is about foreign stouts/porters, but there is something about them that I don’t really enjoy.
