Growler: Wow...finally at long last I’m the first to rate a beer. The pour on this yielded a very odd chocolate amber brown color with a wispy cream head. I don’t think I’ve ever had this pleasant of an aroma from a brown ale...notes of subtle, light chocolate, biscuity malts, toffee, anise, vanilla and an underlying hoppiness that provides just enough balance to the sweetness. Medium-full bodied mouth feel. Flavor is of dark bready malts, fine bakers chocolate, a bit of coffee and again a soft hoppy finish that’s barely noticeable. Ridiculously smooth drinking brew and the best brown ale I’ve had to date.
