michael-pollack (1592), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 12, 2008 Draught at Brewpub: Aroma of malts, nuts, and chocolate. Poured light brown in color with a small, off-white head. Clear. Hazy. Muted flavor of chocolate, coffee, malts, and light nuts. Medium body. Thin texture. Soft carbonation. Chocolate finish. Walt (2291), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 31, 2008 Pour is opaque-ish rub brown with a thin off white head...smell is rich and roasty with lots of chocolate and coffee...toasty sweet flavor with some hazelnut and coffee...nice roasty finish...pretty impressive...a brown ale that isn’t boring! thedm (3407), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 2, 2007 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy fine to large sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a semi-opaque no visible carbonation brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was malty. The semi-flat mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The thin flavor contained notes of malt mild nut and mild brown malt. Not one that I would likely buy again. Cornfield (4409), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jun 6, 2007 From the tap this pours a dark and slightly hazy brown body with a creamy tan head that does some solid lacing. The nose contains light roasted malts, chocolate, soft nuts, and a mild earthy bitterness. The milk chocolate becomes more pronounced in the flavor and there’s a suggestion of smoke. The nut flavor becomes more bitter and lasts into the the finish. Not bad. This brew has obviously been tweaked considerably since the last rating.

Brass Restaurant &Brewery, South Barrington, IL
frankenkitty (1832), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Jan 29, 2006 I just missed their porter and it was replaced with this Brown Ale so I gave it a shot. Served as a clear mahogany with a thin tan film & ring. Nutty aromas really come out after the frost falls off my glass. There’s a woodiness about it that contributes to a maple sweetness as well. Flavor is thin and cola-ish with a bitter nut finish. Malty yet refreshing.
