RAYBOY01 (1654), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 2, 2005 Way too watered down for the style...I like to feel my taste buds shimmy and my nasal pasages quiver with the bitterness of my IIPA’s. Instead, they just wimpered and lay back down, feeling as if I had toyed with their affections. And it took several REAL imperials before they were back purring away again...everything forgiven. It had a nice look, a hazy copper color with a respectable off-white head. Nice lacing, too. But the aroma was pretty faint for a style that should be bitch-slapping you with its hopped-up bitterness. The mouthfeel was nigh unto watery, very light-bodied. The flavor was a subtly, balanced sweet malt with pine hop bitterness. But you really don’t want to see forms of the word "subtle" in the review of an IIPA, especially if it’s in the finish, too.
