oh6gdx (6460), Vaasa, Finland Dec 29, 2006 Bottled (thanks Bov!). Dark brown, almost black colour, mediumsized beige head. Lacing. Aroma is dark roasted coffee, malts, some dark dry fruits. Flavour is old coffee, chocolate, malts and some dark fruits. Could do with more carbonation and smoke/roast. Very bitter/sour stout, not necessarily in a bad way. Muddy brown color, small steady brown head. Sour aroma with light toasted notes. Some sourness also in the flavor. Roasted, a bit chocolaty - very "craft beer" feeling here. Sourness makes you think if this was slightly out of date already. Nice milk chocolate notes in the aftertaste. Ungstrup (11692), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 3, 2006 A deep red beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is slightly acidic with notes of berries as well as light roasted notes. The flavor is sweet roasted combined with light notes of chocolate, burnt malt, and oranges. More like a light Porter, than a Stout. Papsoe (11030), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 29, 2006 (Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear, warm reddish brown with a small, off-white head. Aroma of burned malt. Fairly light body with dry, lightly burned malty accents. A vague sweetness and a hint of dark chocolate. Slightly bitter finish from the black malts. 280906 JorisPPattyn (4638), Antwerpen, Belgium Jun 15, 2004 Coca-coloured; a few moments of yellowish head, then gone. Chocolate, caramel, brandy-ish aroma; touch of coffee. Sourish taste, the acidity of a Guinness multiplied by 4 or 5, lots of burnt/roasted malt. Oatmeal? Again bit of chocolate, tobacco, coffee - or stout, maybe. Not very full-bodied, even for a standard stout. Well, yeah, an ordinary stout with a lot of acidity. Not very subtle. A bit of a bummer after having tried Le Charbonnier.
