Rastacouere (5418), Montréal, Quebec, Canada May 4, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A filtered, rather stripped, simplistic strong ale.
I like:
Liberal use of noble hops, perhaps even too enthusiastic. I like that brewery in general, but fail to understand what they’re aiming at here.
I dislike:
Frail body is comparable to their regular English-style ales and does not have anything Belgian about it. Thin-bubbled carbonation. Even the label feels like a weaker effort than what they’re capable of. Feeble banana and yellow apple flavours. Dominating bready and bubblegum yeast derivatives. MartinT (4458), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 3, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Bubblegum phenols and honeyed fruit nonchalantly walk into a dry, hoppy finish for a lean and overly clean Belgian-style Strong Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thin veil of foam foam slowly sinks into the transparent, dull golden.
-Some vegetal excrescence seems to be growing in the nose.
-This is on the thin side of things for a 9% Belgian-Style Strong Ale.
-This is simply not up to par for a style which has many high quality examples (Charlevoix, DDC, Unibroue) in our province.
From the bottle and on tap at Brouhaha. Lubiere (3408), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jul 3, 2008 A nice deep golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet candy sugar with notes of juniper berries, light bananas, and orange peels. In mouth, a sweet malt with banana notes, yeast, caramel, aniseed, nice belgian and warming alcohol. Rich and smooth. Bottle from Joanette, 6.59$. HogTownHarry (3361), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Sep 3, 2008 Bottle (500ml). Shared by blankboy with tupalev. Slightly cloudy light gold pour, average creamy-frothy white head. Dry, intensely floral-sweet aroma, with banana & yeast for days. The taste brings some floral bite to the sweet malt table, but the primary character is still floral and fruity; the alcohol emerges as it warms. Average, oddly syrupy body, low-level carbonation, and a bit of a tingly yeasty aftertaste. This is pretty damned good, if sweet. beerbuzzmontreal (2769), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 13, 2008 Clear golden pour with a thin white head. Average aroma of honey and herbs. Average flavor of honey, herbs and spices. The body is medium with an oily texture and gentle carbonation. It’s a fairly simple beer and it doesn’t really feel belgian.
