ebrowner88 (113), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Mar 21, 2008 Updated: Apr 8, 2008 Nice creamy head at poor. Aroma is nice! Creamy vanilla coffee. Head disapates after about a minute to leave a very nice veneer of foam over the top of the beer. Color is black, way black. Sweet malt taste, followed by roasted coffee. Weird acid tang for just a second before the bitterness touches you slightly. Leaves you with a slightly dry mouth. Very good cream stout. For 4.95 a sixer i had to give it a try. I think Degarth got a bad batch. This isn’t the best, but it ain’t to damn bad either. Went good with a peanut butter sandwich.
BeerBunker (178), Burbank, Illinois, USA Nov 21, 2008 Pours black with a frothy tan head. Aroma is of malt, chocolate, and sharp coffee. Taste was of malt, chocolate, and raisins, with a big coffee bite backing up the malt. Very creamy and thick mouthfeel. Drinkable, but not amazing. wench (15), st. paul, Minnesota, USA Oct 28, 2008 pours black with creamy thick head. aroma is of chocolate and strong coffee. very malty and bitter at first, then mellows with a coffee finish. heemer77 (3827), Savannah, Missouri, USA Oct 18, 2008 Black colored body with a creamy tan head. Cheap milk chocolate and raisins start in the nose. Then there is some vanilla malt weird tartness. The taste is largely dark chocolate with some prunes in the finish. The malt is consistent throughout and makes this a little annoying. sneagrams3 (1464), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Sep 20, 2008 Tasted 9/19/08. 12oz bottle. Pitch opaque with a finger width of khaki head. Heady aromas of toast and dark chocolate. Medium bodied with smooth character. Big cookie malt and chocolate flavors. Touch nutty. Mild, slight coffee flavor and acidity. Peanutbutter cookies with chocolate chips. Good roasted malts. Creamy with mild effervescence. I enjoyed this one. I guess I’m against the grain. amishcaravan (225), Winona, Minnesota, USA Aug 5, 2008 taste is of coffee and roast. maybe a bad bottle but the smell was quite skunky and so was the taste.
