Draught, ABR 2009. It is a dark, hazy brown beer. For such a name, there is a disappointing lack of hops, but the hops are still there. There is malt in here as well. I didn’t pick up on the dunkel character very much, even with the roasted malt, perhaps because the name implies a pale ale. Medium palate.

On cask drawn during the Autumn Brew Review 2009 in Minneapolis, MN. Pours a hazy golden amber colored brew with a fast dissolving off-white head head leaves behind a thin off-white ring. Aroma of fresh earthy hops with some dry roasted malt. Taste is medium bodied, quite smooth texture, with flavors of floral and grassy hops, a hint of roasted golden grain malt, some mild herbs and a touch of toffee. Finish has a mild grapefruit aftertaste with a lingering bitterness that really stands out. A terrific dark lager with an IPA character is the best way to describe this.
