A strange tasting brew. Clear brown medium color. Very small off white head that quickly diminishes. Extremely small notes of nuts and caramel. Watery in texture and light in carbonation. It has a very strange flavor, I taste some sauerkraut in the back end. Might be because of drinking some Surly Darkness before rating this one that it tastes so bad.

clear dark brown in color. aroma very pleasant chocolate, carmel, and malts. think I liked the aroma better then the taste. I found it a little bitter. was good but not my favorite brown ale.

Malty brown, pours brown with initial white foamy head. Some bitterness apparent, but well washed over with malt, making it easy drinkable but essentially another malt. A bit of choco malt too.

12 oz. bottle via trade with tytoanderso - Pours a clear brown color with a one finger thick light tan head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is a toasted caramel malt with some light nuttiness to it. Flavor is a lightly sweetened toasted bready malt. Very light bitterness. Medium body. No unpleasant aftertaste. A very good Brown ale. Thanks Tyler.

Bottle (12oz). Via trade with Oakbluff. Clear deep mahogany pour, small fizzy off-white head. Mildly sour caramel malt aroma, lemony and nutty. The taste follows - nutshell roast malt, light lemon juice, a bit of sour currant or cranberry, and slight dry weedy hop bitterness ... I don’t DISlike it, but it seems thin and stuck somewhere between sour ale and brown ale. Watery, flat body, medium acidity, quick taste drop-off leaving a mildly bitter/sour aftertaste. Odd - honestly if this were called a sour ale I might give it a higher score.

12 oz bottle, via tytoanderso. Pours a clear very dark brown body under a very small quickly fading fizzy beige head. The nose is heavy cooked veggies with lots of husky graininess. Just very slight nutty and chocolate notes getting through. The flavor is very bland with all that cooked cabbage flavor dominating everything. A little chocolate malt and mild bitterness. The nuttiness is more of a hazelnut character. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a watery texture and moderate fizzy carbonation. Something is very wrong here, or this is just really bad beer. I hope for the brewery’s sake it’s just my bottle.

Appearance: opaque, ruddy brown, small head. Aroma: caramel & nuts, nice and malty, good and toasty. Taste: medium-bodied, with flavor of nuts, and toffee. Dry finish. Grows in complexity through the life of the drink. Getting a deeper feel that reminds me of a Belgian dubbel...makes me wonder what the malts are. Hops seem to be on the way-down-low, but are around here somewhere. Missing something, though, could use a little this, a little that, to make it memorable. But quite good...As an autumnal seasonal, not bad at all...I can feel the warmth, already.

Appearance: Pours a clear, dark brown body with a small ring of bubbles. Smell: Mild, chocolatey aroma with a hint of biscuit, caramel, nuts, and even some spearmint. Taste: Caramel malts with some light hints of chocolate and nuts. Soft, earthy bitterness. Dry, minty finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A pretty average, though drinkable brown ale.
