Commercial Description:
Not your typical Scotch Ale! This award winning ale is very malty with just a hint of peat-smoked malt.

Dark burnt orange pour. Aroma of smoke, wood, sweetness. The smokiness in the flavor is predominant, over powering, and seems artificial. Almost like they dumped some liquid smoke in this one. Flabby mouthfeel with adequate carb. Kind of bad Scotch ale.

Tastes a lot like Sprecher Piper’s Scotch ale. Has a woody, oaky taste to it even though it has not been aged. Diacetyl quite present. Not bad, wouldn’t mind having again.

Pours dark somewhat opaque caramel color. Aroma of caramel, stone fruit, smoke. Flavor is slightly smoky with slight sweet notes. Great mouth feel; perfectly carbonated. Nice roasty finish. Different, but not a favorite.

Bottle and what a different scotch ale. This one leans more to a smoked beer than a scotch ale. Aroma isn’t so smoked, but flavor certainly is. Easy to drink and different.

Bottle from Heritage. Pours like tea with mild carbonation and a fleeting off-white head. Smells like Campbells vegetable soup and barley. Tastes the same with notes of black tea and faint caramel. The pete seems absent. On the lesser end of things as far as scotch ales go.

color is brown amber, with lingering head. i don’t smell much but smoke. In fact, at first all i taste is something burnt and then a buttery after tast.

Bottle courtesy of tytoanderso. Pours brown with a rocky white head. Smells of caramel, some peat, light spice. Tastes sugary and spicy with some brown sugar on the finish.
