Scotchy nose of buttery smoke, raisin, fig, and hints of vanilla. Soft peat smoke flavor encompasses notes of cherry tobacco, raisin, and sweet vanilla caramel. Light bodied, soft carbonation, malty smoked finish. A bit thin, but certainly still nice... BustedFlat (553), Edina, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 4, 2007 12 ounce bottle. Shaker glass. Hazy brown with a small head. Smells like malted milk balls candy. Flavor is big time malt up front with notes of charcoal grill smoke. Not too complicated, but that’s not what I’m looking for in a scotch ale. Malt and smoke is what it is all about and this one does just fine. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 3, 2007 Copper color with a thin head. Butterscotchy aroma, but not in an overbearing way. Sweet malt and honey up front with a building peat smoke that gets to about middle range; it’s not big and loud, nor is it something you have to strain to find. Not nearly as strong as I expected. iradog (31), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 3, 2007 This pours a clear amber with off white head. It had a sweet flavor with a good amount of smoke and some additional roasted malts. I tend to really like this style and this succeed in my expectations. tytoanderso (1387), St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 29, 2007 Bottle. Pours rich amber with some brown highlights. Minimal off-white head. Interesting aroma: sweet malt, caramel, and then there’s the hint of earth and peat. Explosion of flavor on the palate! Nice use of peat smoked malt. Lush and creamy texture. Better use of peat than the Furthermore 3 Feet Deep. Like Brewfiend, I need to go drink some Ardbeg after this one. timjertson (26), Waseca, Minnesota, USA

Malty, peaty aroma like a doused campfire in the north woods. Caramel, a light roast and a peaty scotch flavor. An interesting local brew. BDR (2164), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

Smoke peat and caramel on the body. Excuse me, but I’m off to grab an Islay scotch to follow this one up. Skyview (4057), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 24, 2007 Received 12-oz sample bottle to try from distributor. Another cool ACL printed bottle. Pours a slightly hazy brown amber brew with a good lasting off white head. Aroma has a hint of scotch whiskey/peat smoke, some caramel, and medium roasted malt. Taste has peat, come caramel and more malt taste. Palate is creamy, lightly carbonated, and medium body. Finish is smooth and a little sweet.
