Jun 28, 2009 In the bottle from HyVee CB. Pours an orange amber with an off-white medium head. The aroma is the best part of this beer- lots of chocolate oranges as though this is going to be an Impy. But wait, the taste does not back up this tempting thick scent. A fairly good APA with a nice sweet malt thickness, but it is not over the top in nature. I like it and hope to try it on tap.

Jun 27, 2009 Golden pour with thick, creamy white head. Caramel nose with light bittering hops. Flavor is lightly bitter, some nice hop flavor. A bit pineapple and nice malt. Solid pale here.

May 30, 2009 TAP: this review is an outlier - just not my style at all, and for me its not even drinkable. Dirty gold pour, a little cloudy. Huge white head. Nose is caramel and toffee, maybe a little sour. Taste is yeast/malt - as in malt bomb - I wouldn’t have guessed pale ale for this style at all - makes me wonder if I had a representative sample. Overall the main thing I get out of the nose/taste is "dirty sock."

May 12, 2009 Dark copper color with a medium head. Light citrus and caramel aroma. A little buttery. Well this is an interesting and unexpected blend... grapefruit and orange flavors, mixed with a sweet malt body, light caramel and toast. Pretty solid!

May 6, 2009 Deep amber that is near copper with a light yellowish khaki head. Smells of grapefruit and sweet crystal malt are strong up front. There is also some pleasing dry straw. The taste has some bitter grapefruit peel and black pepper spice. The finish is fairly sweet with some toasted toffee. Wow, this is pretty much an IPA in my opinion. Good brew.

Apr 11, 2009 Pours copper with thin head.
Aroma is decent herbal hop, some light lemony citrus. Toasted and caramel malt with a hint of vanilla perhaps?
Flavour is nicely balanced.
Medium hop with a nice toasted malt presence.
Almost comparable to a british pale though more assertive hop.

Apr 2, 2009 On cask for Firkin Fest at the Happy Gnome in St. Paul 09. Had a medium pour with a good malt character accompanied with medium hops. It was a bit big to be a pale ale malt-wise but I guess the hops didn’t kick it into IPA mode. Pretty good brew overall.

Mar 5, 2009 Reddish copper brew with a lovely creamy head. Fresh citrus hop aroma with a slight hint of the malt. Head lingers. Hoppy, but with enough malt to balance it. A very nice ale.
