copper color, clear, decent citrus hoppiness in the nose. flavor is a nice mix of brown sugar and citrus. the bitterness is more along the lines of an IPA rather than an APA. clean and crisp...not bad.

Nov 6, 2009 Pours a hazy golden-orange color with medium foamy white head. Strong earthy, piney hops aroma. Hops definitely dominate the flavor but it’s balanced nicely with some sweet and citrusy maltiness. Notes of orange, grapefruit, piney cascade hops, grassy floral hops, and some sweet cereal malts. Long hoppy finish. This is better than expected; much more complex and a fuller mouthfeel. Very good ale from Brau Bros.

Nov 3, 2009 Gold pour. Aroma contains lots of caramel malt, citrus hops and some crackers. Flavor is bitter and malty with citrus hops standing tall.

Oct 30, 2009 Bottle pours copper and gold with a medium white head. Aroma is heavy citrus hops with a hint of biscuit and malt. Taste is citrus hops, malt, with a long lasting residual bitterness. Body and carbonation are medium. To GFF and those who are trying this beer in Iowa, Brau Brothers brews 5.0% ABV versions for Iowa distribution to comply with their distribution laws. Give it a try again if you are out of state.

Oct 29, 2009 Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint.
Pours an orange amber with a very large head. Lots of lacing.
Aroma of citrus and pine hops with some dry malt.
Begins with a very nice balance of strong citrus/pine hop taste (but not too much bitterness) and semi-sweet toasted malts, then suddenly turns very dry and bitter towards the finish.
Very smooth and dry. Medium body and carbonation.
Exceedingly drinkable due to the smooth body and great balance.

Oct 9, 2009 Bottle pours copper gold with small head and some residual sheets. The aroma is quite fruity, almost surprisingly fruity, cookies, and some floral stuff. The flavor is nicely bitter, malty, fruity, and quite decent actually with a rather substantial palate. I’m pleased.

Sep 19, 2009 copper color, a bit of citrus hoppiness. flavor is a nice mix of malt and citrus. It says APA here, but it was marketed to us on tap as a double IPA--definitely not a DIPA. fairly dry body. It’s OK.

Sep 5, 2009 Bottled. Poured milky, yet healthy golden with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma was fragrant and very enjoyable with earthy and light citrus hoppage over thick biscuits and caramel.. the malts actually stole the show, which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. The flavor had the same biscuit and caramel malts at the core, surrounded by a bit different bitter hop array than the nose (white pepper, resiny pine, and earth present here).. finished with thicker sweetness and sufficient residual bitterness. Medium-bodied with fluffy carboation on the palate.. sweeter than it was bitter, but balance was there.. a bit slick at times, which impeded the flow slightly. This was by far the best brew I’ve tried from these guys.
