Allen (700), Wölflinswil, Switzerland May 12, 2008 33cl. It pours a beautiful amber beer with a nicely lasting slightly tanned head. The nose is mainly of honey and caramel. Slightly sour with hints of candy and melon - rather nice. The taste is malty and nutty; accompanied by quite a lot of honey. A bit sour. Beautiful lacing. Medium bodied. Some candy showing up. Leafy. Yeasty finish with hints of candy, grapes and lemon. A good and interesting beer - unfortunately with some sour components though. beerlady (246), lucerne, Switzerland Dec 27, 2007 orange-amber color

Big honey aroma and taste is overly sweet with little hops, clean finish. Quack-Duck (1973), Bodensee, Germany Jun 23, 2007 bottle, bought at the brewery. Cloudy, orange-yellow colour, large creamy head. Quite fruity flavour, but neither very malty nor very hoppy, quite thin. MoritzF (4019), Ruhrpott, Germany Apr 9, 2007 (bottle, with thanks to quack-duck for the sample!) Hazy, orange to amber colour with a huge off-white foamy head. Sweet, moderately yeasty, but rather strong honey aroma with a restrained malt-character, plus a light touch of caramel and faint hoppy notes. Light-sweet flavour, thin bodied - where the h… are the 6% ABV?, smooth carbonation. Soft malty base, honey-ish fruity taste; medium-dry, malt-accented slim finish with light bittering notes. On par with the usual modern brewpub standards known from Germany. “Frischbier” is the right word as they state on their labels. Not moreish; I would order an ordinary Schützengarten brew instead, if asked for a second one.
