This is a soild schwartz with lots of flavor profile for a German beer

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 16, 2009 Deep brown body with some ruby at the edges. There was also a large light brown and tan head. Malty with some strong anise notes in the nose. There was also some light wood smoke with a little bit of moss. The taste is largely anise, both up front and in the finish. There is also a little bit of green wood and coffee, but it is subtle. This one is all about the black licorice. This also seemed a little salty in the finish. Overall, a decent beer, but dry with a need for some sweetness. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 13, 2009 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of frothy tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a semi-opaque softly carbonated dark ruby red brown colored body. The mild aroma was brown black and red malts. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish. The flavor contained notes of mild roasted malt dark malt and brown malt. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again. kappldav123 (1870), Markkleeberg, Germany
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 10, 2009 The bottle looks simple, but good. The beer in the glass is not really black, deep brown, small head. Starts really mild, modest roasty-smoky, fine malty. Finish still mild, soft like velvet, very drinkable. Good schwarzbier!
