Draft at brewpub: Yellow golden. Dying white head. Worty, unclean nose of nutty yeast, honeyed malt, and herbal hops. Prickly carbonation. Weighty body. Curious absence of hop flavor is overrun with a sharp and overaggressive hop charge. Dully hoppy with toasted malt husks. Intensely nutty, crunchy and cereal-like. Pistachio-like yeast character further weighs the body down as it exacerbates the poor attenuation and high honeyed-grain concentration. Again, no salvaging refined hop flavor to be found anywhere. Finishes doughy, muddled and abrasively hoppy with a late herbal snap. Bad batch, who knows? Very unclean and poorly attenuated.

draught at the brewery in weisbrunn. clear and effervescent yellow with a dense and foamy white head. meat-like nose of baloney (!) fat and pale malt. flavor is somewhat sour, hints at green cabbage and aspirin and stale bread. buttered bread finish, medium body, messy malt texture. not good.

Bottled@brewpub (thanks to SADESA for sharing). Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is diacetyl, malts and some herbs as well as hops. Flavour is grassyness, some bready malts, diacetyl. Even though the big amount of diacetyl, very pleasant and drinkable.

Draught at the brewpub: Presumably golden with a creamy-lacy head; solid herbal-hoppy nose; moderate to solid bitter-sweetish flavour, light bodied; slightly lingering bitter-strawy finish. Pretty good...........

Cask at the brewpub as Helles. Their bottles say 4.9%. Clear golden colour. Stable frothy white head. The flavour is nicely malty, distinct bitterness, slightly rough.

Tap@Bruxellensis. Very hazy yellow - witlike. Hint of grass in the nose. Hayish notes dominate in general. Herbal dry finish.

Draught@Bruxellensis. Clean, bitter and hoppy, but perhaps a touch to thin, to push it up there with the better ones. Still, i could quite happily drink a few of these. Nice grassy hops. Clean and bitter.

(bottle, shared by DerDoppelbock) Hazy orange colour with a short and non-persisting foamy white head. Quite shy yeasty and malty aroma with notes of sweat and herbal hops. Bitter flavour, medium to light bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Distinctive yeasty and malty taste with horse blanket/ barnyard-character; dry, yeasty and bitter finish with aromatic herbal hops and light fruity accents. Well-crafted, full of (rural) character (06.10.06).
