San Diego Brewers Guild Fest 09: Nose was a little sloppy yet exhibited some berry essence. the appearance was an orgy of berriness...yogurt-like in thickness...smoothie-esque..and like purple mud. Flavors certainly bringing out the berries and the cherry...raspberry notes rejoicing everywhere...vividly cakey sometimes...body thick enough...berries coming through good....can’t find too many faults as a fruit beer. nicely done!

On tap at the San Diego Brewers Guild fest. Pours with a muddy, reddish-brown body topped by a thin to medium thick head with a good amount of lacing. It’s sweet and malty with a strong cherry note and a nice tartness. Medium bodied and dry.

Served on tap at the San Diego Brewers Guild Festival 2009. The appearance is a deep berry hue. The flavors and aromas are blackberry, raspberry, cherry, with a nice malt backbone.

Sweet and sour cherry flavor in a brownish malty beer. Really very pleasant. Probably the most interesting beer they had on tap at the brewpub.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours super cloudy, milky looking purple with a thin white head that leaves specks of lace. Smells like slightly sour grape juice with some malt and alcohol. Tastes about the same, slightly sour grape juice, some vinegar, some malt. It’s good, different, but good. Nice, full body, almost has a texture to it I feel like. Good carbonation.

9/29/09 notes: GABF Friday, session two. I was attracted to the name, so naturally I had to try it. The nose and flavor displayed tasty berry notes as advertised, but it lacked that crisp tartness that accompanies many top Krieks. For that reason, I kept getting the impression that it wasn’t balanced all that well. OK though.

Cloudy purple with almost no head. Cinnamon cherry sugar and marrion berry aroma and taste with some sharp citrus notes.
