A lovely nutty and smoky black stout. Lots of flavor. Could have used a little more hop backbone - I think that would have added to the complexity.

On-tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown/black with a nice sized light brown head and good lace. Smells roasty malty and sweet with some slight chocolate as well. Tastes of roasted malts, slight chocolate, slight fruit and some toffee. Ful body, good carbonation.

Sample at the brewery gave a dark brown black color with a small tan mocha head. Oaky, smoky aromas. Full bodied but not syrupy. Flavors of coffee, cocoa, molasses, and hops. Alcohol not over the top. Very smooth beer. Very solid RIS even though not off the charts in complexity. Likes it for sure.
