The flavor is a little warm, thick, mildly waxy, earthy hops, a little sour like an amber. Thick warm palate. Not bad but not great. mmmbeer (765), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 3, 2007 12 oz bottle poured into my trusty frosty pint glass- poured non transparent dark amber, a nice lacing head. Aroma of dark malt. Hits the mouth with a thin body, malt, hops and a dark caramel note are noticeable- very slight finish. Was expecting something wonderful- middle of the road. It’s appearance is unremarkable, simply a deep amber with a white head. Spicy, bold flavor, but it’s generally unremarkable. I liked it, but I doubt I’ll keep buying it. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Nov 20, 2007 The beer emerges from the 12-ounce bottle a luminous brown, the head large and a creamy light tan, as it fades away, the lacing provides a thin veil upon the glass. Nose has a rich malt sweetness, caramel and “ La Touche Finale”, a hint of floral spiciness. Start is nicely malted, sweet with a hop bite at the back, top is moderate in feel. Finish continues the malty sweetness, the acidity peaceful. As it warms to the glass and room, the hops really “POP” out, a bit of a “Rogue” as ESB’s go, but I like it. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Hoppy garbage aroma. Trashy rye taste. YUCK! Just not good at all. I cannot believe how highly this is rated. Transparent amber color. Piss awful taste and crap palate. I refuse to ever try this one again. Dreadful. GreatLibations (1454), Last Supper, Arizona, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 8, 2007 Pours brownish amber w/ a quickly receding shallow froth leaving much to be desired. Aromas are almost nonexistant. Full nectar with decent carbonation levels creating a mellow, soft texture. A chewy malty brew with a mild cocoa sweet trim. Theres one definable characteristic that really stands out. Have you ever been in a cave ? If you have you will understand me when I say "cave like". Sulpher, burnt match head without the roast, chalky earth. This is a very unique brew with mush character. You get the sweet fruit upfront then a troglodyte comes out and hits you on the head with his walking stick. The finish leaves me with a taste like I just bit the head off a retired match stick. Needless to say it is bittered well. A very special brew.
