| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 8, 2007 Bottle. Uninspiring dark iced tea body with a thin ring of bubbles. Nose-medium aroma hops, brewery floor, straw. Decent nose. Taste-sharp, perfect bittering hops, malty backbone, biter on front and back end, some strong brown ale notes, malty enough o not let it be thin, hops are well used and just about perfect for the style, light berry, alcohol shows up on the back end in a vapor kind of way. Not a whole lot you can say. A good interpretation of a boring style. A decent pub session beer. iowaherkeye (1858), Los Angeles, California, USA

Clear copper brown with a small light beige head, fading to a thick ring. Aroma of fruity citrus hops, caramel malts and light toast. Hot alcohol is also present. Lots of earthy hops and bitterness (5 out of 10) in the flavor. Otherwise, mostly the same. Thankfully the alcohol wasn’t as noticeable. Medium body with light to moderate carbonation. Blah, I didn’t enjoy this one. waolsen (1222), Littleton, Colorado, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 1, 2007 A delicious ESB. Haven’t had one of these in a while. Aroma was decent...mostly hops but there is some caramel in there but not too strong. Pour was a thick dark dark gold with a one thin white ring for a head. Taste was very hoppy. Mouthburning hoppy in fact. Malt is in the aftertate and it is very dry. The alcohol makes it thick and a little burny but very good nonetheless. dyetube (409), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 27, 2007 This beer pours a deep brown/amber with a small white head that dissipates very quickly leaving some good lacing down the sides. This beer has a faint smoked maltiness on the nose but very faint also kinda buttery smelling. The flavors in this beer really meld together well. Even though this beer is a little more on the malty side for an esb the hops do balance well with it! I think this is one of the better american esbs I’ve had! I really like this one! | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 25, 2007 Draft @ the Breckenridge brewpub: Poured a hazy deep amber color with a medium sized off-white head. The aroma was malt, nutty and semi-sweet with some earthy hops. The flavor had some malt but was very dry and fairly bitter. patrick767 (2033), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 24, 2007 bottle - Pours copper with a mild aroma of malt and citrus hops and a thin, lasting head. The flavor is moderately hoppy with a hint of alcohol and some light caramel malt. It’s a little thin. The flavor is nice though given that it’s unusually big (almost 8% abv) for an ESB, I thought the flavor would also be a little bigger. It’s alright and a little bit different take on the style. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 23, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Clear medium brown/ruby edged body with splotchy head. Aroma is caramel malt, toffee, some hops. Tastes caramel malty, but not sweet, with notes of toffee, nuts, brown sugar, and slight tannins. I’m not a big fan of this style at all, but this one is pretty good.
