Taste is malt, floral hops, some dark fruits with a bitter finish. Warming brew also. Medium mouth feel. Pretty good ESB. Taverner (883), San Ramon, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 15, 2008 Kinda sweet which is not so good in an esb. Nutty notes as well a caramel and sugar ending on a blink and you miss it bitter note. tmoreau (600), Lombard, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 10, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours an amber hue with a white head which reduces quickly to a thin ring and light lace. Aroma is semi sweet, maybe of dark fruits, a little floral, and a touch of herbs. The flavor continues the semi sweetness with a little maltiness and caramel. Nice hop bitterness throughout, even in the nose. A fan of the small batch series. voegeli (11), Kansas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 5, 2008 Great beer with a nice hoppiness. Not overly hopped, has a smooth finish. The flavor sticks in your mouth and the aroma will stay in your glass long after you finish. Hats off. ansermadide (524), Kyle, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 3, 2008 12oz bottle from Specs on October 7, 2008. Dark amber hue... cobweb-like head. Malty, grainy, almost homebrew like aroma. Flavor is sweetly bitter with a sensation that travels up the center of the tongue, then washes to the sides. Incredibly enjoyable drink. Extremely well done. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 27, 2008 Very nice beer, and a good score by me as it was deeply discounted at the local grocery store. Amber-bronze in color with a decent sized head and lots of sticky lacing. Interestingly inviting aroma of candy corn, burnt malts, raisins, and bear claws (the doughnut treat, not actual animal parts). Good depth to the mouth feel. Filling, but not too heavy. Malty along with a solid bitterness. Thick malt flavors that are doughy and sweetened. Lots of cereal and syrup combined with raisins and other sugary fruits. A heaping dose of flowery hops lead to a balanced flavor and provide enough bitterness to be intriguing. rederic (1815), montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 24, 2008 On tap at the Denver location, bright copper color, with a beige head, yeasty, fruity, grainy toasted malt nose, with a light floral hop citrusy accent, some mild caramelized nuts, and a faint toffeeish aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice fruity, toasty malt character, with a flowery hop leafy orange citrusy accent, with a hint of sweetness, leading towards a light warming, grainy, malty, citrus hop bitterring finish. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 8, 2008 It is a shame this doesn’t score higher...nice, a bitter on steriods.... caramalized fruit aromas give in to the hops as the sweet molasses malts carries over the top.... excellent 2 finger head, this ESB leaves behind its traces the lacing has coated the glass... flavors are full bodied ESB with the candied fruits and the bittering to keep things in check... full mouth and oil texture leads to a lengthy finish, and the alcohol keeps it spicy... I like it!
