Commercial Description:
Extra, extra? You better believe it. We like to say it’s double extra special. The balance of malt and hops makes it truly one-of-a-kind. Warming malt notes at the onset with a hop kick in the back and opens up to a nice dry finish. Our small batch ESB is a big, strong traditional ale with characteristics that break tradition and a complexity that constantly surprises.

12oz in Liefmans glass. Pours rich brown with medium, lasting tan head. Soft malt and alcohol nose. Flavor is similar with some piney bitterness on top. Smooth, but not what I’m looking for in an ESB.

Bottle. Dark copper, clear. Stinky and sweet caramel malt and sharp orange hop aroma. Full, chewy, creamy, oily body, very rich and viscous on the palate. Rich and syrupy, semi-sweet maple malt, with a sweet, chewy orange and honey hop character. Surprisingly good stuff.

12 oz bottle-pours an off white ring for a head and copper color. Aroma is coppery/pine hops, secondary medium malt-caramel. Taste is coppery/pine hops (English) , secondary medium malt-caramel/peat. Dry finish. OK carbonation.

Pours a reddish color with a nice medium sized puffy tope colored head. Nose is brown sugar, nuts, cellar dust, and a bit of alcohol. Taste is like caramel and syrup with a floral acidic bite than comes across somewhat medicinal and alcoholic on the finish. A fine beer but at 7.8% the burn is very apparent.

Another underated beer from the 471 series. Pours with a smallish, elegant, light brown head that leaves decent lacing and has good retention. Body is a hazy mahogany hue. Aroma of dark dried fruits, malts, brown sugar, nuts, mellow british hops, and some molasses. Taste is brown sugar and molasses (but not in a very sweet way), dried fruits and a noticable alcohol appearance in the flavor. A bit too fizzy for my taste with water like mouthfeel. Good beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a nice thin almost white head, good dark brown color, some lacing...nose of hop, malt, some mild sweetness...taste malt with sweet, then hops, with a nice bitter finish. Good mouth feel. The 471 series is good so far.

Clear light amber thin of white head. Woody bitter aroma. Tons of bitternes but not much hop flavor. Dissapointing in this wa. The IBUs literaly burn. Nice malty bod but that IBU imbalance throws me.
