Commercial Description:
Extra, extra? You better believe it. We like to say it’s double extra special. The balance of malt and hops makes it truly one-of-a-kind. Warming malt notes at the onset with a hop kick in the back and opens up to a nice dry finish. Our small batch ESB is a big, strong traditional ale with characteristics that break tradition and a complexity that constantly surprises.

Surprisingly dark pour, amber with nice head and lacing. Mild, odd aroma...can’t put my finger on it. Rich sweet malty flavor, some bread and honey notes...not very ESB-like. Whatever, I liked it. Nice blend of maltiness and bittering hops with a pleasing alcohol presence. I would drink this baby again.

Draft at the brewpub. A deep brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet and very nutty combined with a light note of alcohol, leading to a dry nutty and bitter finish.

This is an excellent take on the style. I’m continually impressed with the small batch series. Deep amberish orange pour, nutty bread crumb aroma with some toffee and caramel, and just a hint of spicy, even earthy hoppiness. Pretty smooth with some honey sweetness on the palate. A great maltiness throughout. Finishes is dried fruits. Yummy

Pour is red brown with a creamy average sized head. Aroma is more on the malty than hoppy side with some cherry, spice, caramel, with vegetal and grainy hops. Alcohol is noticed, which is not a good thing in this case. A touch cloying. Kind of unique and drinkable but not really all that great. The aroma was promising, but the flavor is kind of a mess.

Pours a deep amber color with a decent sized off white head. The aroma in medium sweet caramel malt, nuts and earthy hops. The flavor leans more toward the bitter side although there is a good malt presence. Medium bodied, creamy texture. Long bitter finish.

12oz. bottle. Sweet, malty aroma, bready and toasty with notes of dark caramel and fruity hop. Deep red-amber in color, clear, with a minimal head. Flavor is pretty well balanced between the sweet, toffeeish, toasty malt character and lightly citric, floral hop flavor and bitterness, which progresses towards the finish, meeting a touch of warmth and spice, as well as some fading bubblegum esters. Mouthfeel is smooth and low in effervescence, body is full. Passable big ESB rendition.

deep chocolate brown pour with no head. malts with a slight hop bitter scent. thicker than i was expecting with an interesting flavor. definitely not as bitter as i was expecting but more maltier and sweet. an almost caramel flavor lingers afterwards too.
