Commercial Description:
Hoppy? Brother, 471 redefines hoppy. 471 is a small batch, limited edition ale that was created by our Brewmaster to separate the weak from the strong. 471 is a double IPA, that combines Pale, Munich, Caramel-30, Carapils and Torrified Wheat malts, with Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe and Fuggles hops. It has a big sweet mouthfeel, followed by more hoppiness than you've ever had at one time. Enjoy. (Available at Breckenridge Pubs and Restaurants and bottled as 471 Small Batch Double Hopped IPA.)

Pours amber into the glass, with a fluffy eggshell head that retains nicely, leaving soapy lace down the glass. Immediately, musty notes of grapefruit and earthy pine overtake my nose... this diminishes to a clean pine aroma. Sweet malt, grapefruit/other muddy citrus notes, and light alcohol hit the flavor palate. The finish is similar, with an effervescent pine hop and lightly retentive alcohol burn. This seems to be a decent Impy IPA, but a bit unilateral and lacking in mouthfeel to provide a nice substantial base for the other contingencies.

Final got this beer on Tap at Mad Mex in Oakland. Good choice Nikki. Cloudy amber with an exceptional creamy tan head. Great Lacing and aroma and flavors to match the sight. Plenty of hops, just a little sweeter than most Cherries and Grapefruit, and a finish that lingers A big rating from my view for IPA’s

I wasn’t as impressed with this as I had hoped to be. Most of the features of a really good IIPA are here, but they’re just not big enough for the style. Alcohol flavor is prominent, but the hops is surprisingly subdued. I dunno...it’s good...just not great.

Pours amber with a quick dissipating head. Leaves a nice though. Some grapefruit and citrus but slight. Tastes of hops with caramel. Finishes with alcohol, caramel and then the hops. balance could be better. Thin initially then gluey on the palette as it sites.

Decent sized bright white head of fine bubbles. Decadent hoppy aroma with lots of succulent juicy hops. Resinous pine and caramel. Good malt presence in the aroma to offset the high hops content. Color is a hazy dark orange. Upon further inspection, there is tons of very fine particulates floating in there. Did not notice them during the pour. Light orange and sweet malt flavor. Hops not as dominant in the flavor. Some bitterness and grainy mouthfeel. Noticeable alcohol presence. Finishes kind of sticky with a lingering bitterness. A very good IIPA. Starts off great and finishes quite nicely.

Bottle from Vintage Cellar. Copper color with a huge off-white head. Aroma of citrus uber-hop. Full bodied with mildly creamy carbonation. Flavor is very hoppy. Citrus and more. Lots of florality. Lots of hop. It’s bitter, but it’s more hoppy than that. Astringent. Dry too. There’s caramel malt, but it’s all about the hops. A ton of hop. Fantastic DIPA.

Pours nice dark brown, with long lasting lacing. Smells of citrusy hops with exotic fruits as well. Taste of astringent hops, with caramelly malts.
