The 471 IPA is exactly what I want out of a double IPA. Beautiful copper color with great clarity and a good head. The aroma is bright and hoppy, kind of spicy. The taste is very balanced, with lots of hops up front to give it a great flavor. You can hardly tell that it’s 9.2% abv, which makes it a dangerous beer. 00cobraR (1102), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Nose is strong floral and grapefruit hops. Flavor has initial sweet malty notes that trend later towards nicely bitter, mostly citrus hops. Finish is pine hops and nicely alcoholic. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2008 clear amber color, medium white head, nice lacing, an attractive beer. minor citrus aroma. the citric hop bitterness is more apparent in the flavor, with caramel and floral notes. medium bodied, nicely bitter finish that lingers. a respectable entry in my favorite style of beer. my notes say that t his beer should be ’’in the lower 15 percentile of my ratings’’. i have no idea what that means. cheapdark (2049), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Nov 16, 2008 If its such a small batch, why has everyone rated it? ’’What else can I say about this beer, it’s on style! Hazey light brown. Smells hop floral, cirtusy fruity grapefruit. Bitter chewing grapefruit rind experience rototilling the tastebuds. Oily mouthcoating soapy flavor. Finish is lingering like an unwanted visitor. Burping green grapefruit rinds after the session. Toomuch for this lager lover, but go for the punishment if you like IPA! S7L3F2T3O4’’

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 24, 2008 On tap at the Denver location, bright amber color, with a white head, nice mild piney, coniferous nose, with a floral herbal hop citrusy note, and a faint malt toastiness aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a good piney, coniferous, flowery hop character, with some leafy, minty accents, with a citrus, lime fruity note, but lacking is malty side, leading towards a citrus, leafy hop bittering finish.
