Commercial Description:
Hoppy? Brother, 471 redefines hoppy. 471 is a small batch, limited edition ale that was created by our Brewmaster to separate the weak from the strong. 471 is a double IPA, that combines Pale, Munich, Caramel-30, Carapils and Torrified Wheat malts, with Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe and Fuggles hops. It has a big sweet mouthfeel, followed by more hoppiness than you've ever had at one time. Enjoy. (Available at Breckenridge Pubs and Restaurants and bottled as 471 Small Batch Double Hopped IPA.)

Pour - where’s the head? it seems as though there is no carbonation in this one. It tastes better then most from the style. I felt the taste went from tangerine nose to complete pine hops on the back, and not much middle to even it out. I must say that I was expecting more from this IPA. At least the after taste is good.

Bomber. Pours a bright orange with a nice white head. The aroma is pure grapefruit hops. The taste is also quite hoppy; some citrus and pine flavors along with a nice smooth grapefruit. A meduim and creamy mouthfeel also. Overall, a really nice IPA. No alcohol warmth at all, just refreshing. Great. Re-rate: had this on tap in Grand Junction, it was freaking amazing. Really nice and resiny. Tons of hops.

"It really tastes like puke," was my first reaction. To me, this beer was undrinkable. I wonder what makes one IIPA great and one undrinkable when both have exactly the same rating? I bought two tonight, one being 93% and this one being 92%, and the 93 was fantastic but this one was undrinkable. I don’t know folks, but I wouldn’t suggest this one unless you like a whole lot of unruly flavors bouncing around in your IPA’s. I will have to pour this one out despite wanting to like it; it is just too weird and rotten for me.

Pours rusty orange, with a thin layer of white foam sticking in web-like lacing along the sides. Syrupy aroma of pineapple, butterscotch, pine resin, and doughy, honey pale malts. Flavor has a light rub of garlic over lots of floral hops that carry a clean dishsoap quality; dirty malts, wet grass, quiet toffee and pear sugars. Shades of pilsner and wheat malts whimper amidst the myriads of confused tangerine, spice, bitter herb and earthy hop flavors. Disorganized, but not unpleasant or difficult. Palate is bittersweet, softly carbonated and somewhat thick; some caramel and tropical fruit in the finish. Well crafted for the most part; not polished, but neither messy. Thanks Luke!

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a billowy three finger white head. Nose is citrus and pine hops in the foreground with some sweet malt in the background. Palate is pineapple, orange peels and malt with a bitter pine dry finish. Medium mouth feel and great lacing. This beer is way better than I thought it would be – always nice to be surprised when expectations are low. Very nice IIPA.

I thouroughly enjoyed this IIPA, It reminded me of a hoppy IPA with the amount of hop character, which I don’t find very often in Imperials. Poured a deep copper with fine, creamy, slowly dissipating head. There was a definite malt sweetness, but balanced by the bittering hops and the light alcohol burn. Definitely don’t drink out of the bottle, the true characteristics didn’t reveal themselves until it was poured and allowed to warm up just a couple degrees. It has a certain tropical fruit essence with a peppery bitter finish.

65 cl bottle. Tasted in comparisson with other IIPAs. Clear light amber colour with a ice white head. Nice aroma of hops, sweet malt, and caramel. Very sweet malty flavour with notes of caramel. A little hoppy for a IIPA. Ends up sweet, a little bitter and an alcoholic finish.
