Commercial Description:
Hoppy? Brother, 471 redefines hoppy. 471 is a small batch, limited edition ale that was created by our Brewmaster to separate the weak from the strong. 471 is a double IPA, that combines Pale, Munich, Caramel-30, Carapils and Torrified Wheat malts, with Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe and Fuggles hops. It has a big sweet mouthfeel, followed by more hoppiness than you've ever had at one time. Enjoy. (Available at Breckenridge Pubs and Restaurants and bottled as 471 Small Batch Double Hopped IPA.)

Clear golden body with a small, off-white head. Aroma is sweet with notes of floral, grapefruit and caramel. Nice mix of floral and citrus hops. Flavor is mostly sweet with bitter finish. Medium body and somewhat watery texture. Moderate carbonation. Alcohol comes through somewhat in the finish, though it’s well hidden. Solid, tasty double IPA though not very complex. Still, the best offering I’ve had from this brewery.

Truly hoppy, but with a sweet finish of spice and caramel. Nice color and pour, with a head that quickly disappears. Pretty good brew overall, but there’s much better out there for this style.

Pours a medium clean gold / copper with a small quickly fading head. Aroma is piney hops, light grapefruit and malts. Wow this is a bitter brew. Pine, hops, caramel malts, citrus in the flavor and most of it is bitter and quite dry. No complaints here.

12oz bonus from Jimbowood. Pours orange copper, nose is amazing with a big hoppy charge. Taste is overly bitter with a sweet hop taste. Not bad but wasn’t really my thing. shared with my pal Pete.

Pours syrupy amber with a medium off white head that laces well. Nose is strong floral and grapefruit hops. Flavor has initial sweet malty notes that trend later towards nicely bitter, mostly citrus hops. Finish is pine hops and nicely alcoholic. Very good.

@ Platte River Parkway Fall Festival. Aroma is clear with good amber color. The flavor is not well balanced, the malt predominates, does not allow the hops to shine. A bit sour with some organic off note.

clear amber, big dirty white head, lots of lace, sweet grapefruit aroma, lots of bitter hop flavor, nice sweet carmel malt to balance, the bitter and sweet fight each other, eventually the warring sides settle down and arrive at a compramise of sweet carmel malt with a sapy pine edge and a long bitter finish

Aroma: 6/10; Appearance: 8/10; Flavor: 6/10; Palate: 5/10; Overall: 12/20
Rating: 3.1/5.0
Drinkability: 7/10
Score: *4

Bottle...clever design on bottle was intriguing enough for me to try this double IPA. Light orange in color with no real head, the big bitter grapefruit taste smacks you down. Alcohol is concealed nicely, amidst the hoppy citrusy flavors though. I like hops but this one exceeds my comfort level.
