| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 11, 2007 Had this on tap as a guest offering at Barley’s the Smokehouse. Nose of citrus & pine, burnt resin, no shortage of orange and pineapple. This brew is sparkling pure gold. The white creamy thin head leaves a nice sheet of lace behind. The beer is well balanced. I noticed a moderate acidity in the middle and the finish is of course big. The medium body is lively and super dry. Thanks to Dion for the sample. theshocker (329), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 7, 2007 Orange -yellow, medium light tan head, *very* cloudy. It actually doesn’t look that good. The aroma, on the other hand, is quite pleasant. Floral with grapefruit and orange hints. Flavor matches the aroma. Bitter, someone thin but not too much. Just enough malt to keep it from getting catty. Finishes smooth - actually pretty refreshing. Nice mouthfeel - not too sweet not too thin. No alcohol burn. I think its a pretty tasty DIPA. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 5, 2007 Bottle: Clear copper color with a white head. Aroma, citrus and pine, some bready malts in the back ground. Flavor, caramel, bready malts, citrus, pine, lots of bitter hops in there, a trace of alcohol, this must be a fresh bottle. Really nice stuff. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 4, 2007 12 oz bottle. light copper with a one finger white head. first whiff, oh my, this is nugget nectar. Super sharp pine aroma and a little bit of that farty fresh hop aroma. Tons of simcoe in the aroma. Puckering btterness lots o’ chinook. definitely skewed way towards the bitter end but not a problem for this hophead. The guy who sold me this said he heard it was a dreadnaught clone. it’s far from that but nugget nectar is pretty fair compromise. i don’t know why i’ve avoided this for so long. i think it was only like 5 or 6 dollars a bomer in illinois and it’s as close as you’re gonna get to nugget nectar out there. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 29, 2007 Draft. Yellow-orange, 1/2" head. Slow dissipation. Hoppy, caramel, grainy. Light orange-peel taste but not overly bitter. Pleasing report. Quality beer. Thanks to the bar maid @ Capital Ale House in Richmond for the recommendation (after denying my Bells Hopslam request) npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 27, 2007 Clear copper, with a mid-sized white head that leaves a nice lace. Sweet, caramel/toffee nose with some grapefruit, apricot. Flavor is quite bitter, lots of grapefruit, some pine, a bit of sugary sweetness. Mouthfeel’s a little watery. | 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Apr 25, 2007 Bottle from Capone’s. Hazy dark straw pour with 2-finger creamy white head. Aroma of big caramel malt, with heavy tropical and citrus fruit, including mango, tangerine, honeydew, heavy hops, and a lot of cracked black pepper. The flavor is rich caramel malt with the variety of tropical fruits, mango in front and tangeriny melon toward the back, plus a uniform spreading of black pepper throughout. The mouthfeel is complex, well balanced, and velvety. This beer is the younger brother of Dreadnaught, and I’d bet they have about 80% homology between them. presario (2982), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 17, 2007 Thick rich head. Sticky lacing. Hazy gold. Alcohol is stronger than the hops in the aroma. Alcohol settles as the beer sits an the hops assert themselves. Dry and hoppy. OK.
