BlackDonald (1127), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 31, 2008 Pours a very delicate hazy orange, very cloudy with a small frothy white head. Wheaty cereal grain nose. Very light and extremely drinkable. The agave is barely detectable, but lies in the background with just the slightest hint of guava. Overall very drinkable with hints of banana, but not overly complex. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Jul 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours hazy corn gold, thin off white head. Aroma is malt and ketchup. Flavor is the same and slightly funky. Just enough tangy funk not to make this revolting. redgold07 (308), Irving, Texas, USA Jul 26, 2008 Of all of the fruit infused wheat beers I’ve tried (i.e.: Purple Haze, Cherry Wheat), this is my favorite. Pours a slightly (but not completely) hazy orange/straw color with a small white head. Aroma is yeast, earth, and something extra... spice maybe. The flavor is pretty unique... yeast and spice from the wheat beer, but, what I guess is the agave flavor, is there too. Dry, tangy, and with a little bit of citrus. Bonus points for creativity and the sweet logo on the label.
12 oz. bottle. thejoeshow (232), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Jul 25, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy light yellow color with a very fine white head that doesn’t last very long. Aroma is of light citrus and a hint of agave and even notes of lime and a wheat twang. It is a bit of an odd combination, but not unappealing. It is almost like you can predict what this beer will taste like just by thinking about it for a second. Agave=tequila. Wheat=wheat. Take a light refreshing wheat beer and add a slight hint of agave nectar (used to make tequila) and there ya go. It is a solid breezy wheat beer up front and then on the finish you get a bit of an agave/tequila taste. Don’t think Tequiza. This is nothing like that garbage. It just has a slight kiss of agave flavor in the aftertaste to give it a nice complexity. theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Jul 25, 2008 12 oz bottle purchased at Metcalf Discount on 91st Street in OP, KS. Pour is slighlty hazed straw golden with a firm 2 inch white head. As the head slowly retreats, leaves behind nice lacing. Aroma of musty wheat and floral perfume. Also some vegetable quality, I’ll assume that is the Agave. Slight twinge of chemical sour towards the very back. Unique nose for certain. The taste is wheat primarily, with a grassy hay earthiness leading to the Agave flavor towards the finish. Some tart lemon citrus is present as well. Flavors are nicely integrated, and this builds up to a satisfying beer. Palate is mouth coating without being heavy. Interesting idea well executed. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jul 22, 2008 OVerall a fairly decent brew, tastey but looked rather dull. pours a cloudy, orangeish body with a full creamy white head. plenty of sediment in the bottom of the bottle. aroma is sweet of wheat, nectar and peaches. taste is pleasent, the only dissapointment was i expected more, but it was just like a regular american style hef. flavors are semi sweet, and not overly rich. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours a very hazy bright yellow with a small fluffy white that hangs around for a little while leaving a trace of lacing. Smell is pretty tame with some banana, clove and wheat sweetness. Also a bit on lemon in the aroma as well. Taste actually has a slightly tart lemon kick up front that gives way to a fairly nondescript grain backbone with some wheat in there. The finish has a redux of the slight tartness of the lemon. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with high carbonation but not as clean or crisp as I expected. The drinkability on this is limited by the slight tartness that seems to pervade the taste and not in a good way. It’s a fair example of a wheat beer but I’ll pass on this. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 20, 2008 12 oz. Small, but lasting suds atop the cloudy, pear-orange body. Aroma is sour yeast, lemon juice, stale grain, and occasional banana popsicle. Mild flavor has dry wheat then mostly tart lemon-cherry, and a light citrus-banana aftertaste. Light-medium body is smooth, acidic-tingly and finishes nicely dry.
