Commercial Description:
This true American-style unfiltered wheat has something a little special – the nectar of the great Salmiana Agave. Agave complements the refreshingly light quality of our wheat and adds a subtle note of flavor that expands this beer’s uplifting taste profile. It is familiar, yet creative.

Hazy orange color, thin white head. Light carbonation. Aroma is of grain. Flavor is light an drinkable. The agave is barely there, way in the background. The flavor is nice. I could drink a lot, but not the best wheat ever.

12oz bottle: Pours a hazy gold with a fluffy white head that instantly disappears. Fruity, almost pineapple-ish nose, is light but enjoyable. The body is sorta spritzy for the style, definitely lacking any creamy wheat. More fruit - mostly peach, hits the palate first. Softer notes of overripe banana and vanilla play a nice secondary role. Not as impressive as I was hoping, since agave sounds great in a wheat in theory.

(Bottle) Pours a cloudy yellow color with a decent white head. Aroma is of wheat malt and biscuit. Not detecting much agave in the nose. Taste is a little more potent. Sour notes and light citrus hit your tongue first. Some grass and grain in the finish. In some ways it reminded me of a Berliner Weisse because of the sour wheat character of the beer. I just wish there were more robust wheat notes in here. Still a unique and somewhat refreshing brew.

Bottle from Siciliano’s, I can’t believe I haven’t rated this yet. Slightly hazy orange with small to medium white head. Aroma is dry wheat and slight funk (like sewage) but not too off-putting. Flavor is medium sweet wheat, slight citrus, grain, chalky, not too bad. Medium and creamy. Not bad and in fact one of the better beers from Breckenridge.

THOUGHTS: Very disappointing. Not bad at all, but I was expecting a completely different tasting beer. It smelled nice, but just tasted like any wheat beer. As it warmed there was a little more lime and most likely agave. I think Tequiza was a better use of agave in a beer. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a hazy, dark golden yellow to light orange with a large, white head that mostly diminished and left barely fair lacing. The aroma was wheat, light doughy and cobweb-like yeast, sweet and acidic fruitiness that wasn’t quite lime, so I’m guessing it was the agave. The initial flavor was sweet and acidic; while the finish was rather sweet, lightly bitter and acidic with a short duration. There was wheat, citrus, lime, yeast and most likely agave. The light to medium body was a little syrupy with fizzy carbonation and a light astringent finish. Overall, there wasn’t much too the body.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy yellow with soft fizzy head. Smells of wheat and cactus. Tastes citrusy, wheaty, and a little bit of agave flavor. Sweet aftertaste. Not bad.

Pours a hazy gold with a finger of fluffy white head and plenty of suspended fine sediment. The aroma is a big round hit of wheat malt backed by lighter notes of herbs and faint sugar. I’ve never smelled pure/raw agave, but this doesn’t smell remotely like any tequila that I’ve sampled. Light-bodied and wheaty-soft with a mildly sour finish. Sweet wheat malt with a fruity herbal and citric character that makes me think of a subtle alcopop. It’s fairly refreshing and certainly different, but it doesn’t really do a whole lot for me.

Bottle. Poured a hazy orange color with a little white head. Aroma was sweet nectar, fruit and malts. Flavor was sweet and tart. Aftertaste was very tart. Lots of citrus flavors. A very different beer.
