Dark brown with no head. Kind of thin for a Breck. This grows on you as it warms. Has a slightly nutty and sweet finish. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 24, 2007 bottle - An Old Ale? Really? Oh well, I guess it doesn’t really matter. It pours dark brown with a one finger, lingering head. The aroma is of toasty caramel malt. It has a sweet caramel malt led flavor with minimal hops. The body is light but not too watery. It’s a fairly good quaff. stretchfest (46), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

The head is very thin, but creamy and lasts the whole beer. Malty and caramel smell. The taste is malty, nutty, and a little chocolatey. Bitter finish. Feels wonderful in the mouth. cbkschubert (2007), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 12/20 | Oct 23, 2007 A very nice looking Red with an adequate head, lace and longevity. It has a sweet yet moldy fresh earth aroma. I noticed the body before the flavor. It’s thick and finishes with just enough tackiness to hold the malt flavor. There’s a slight tangy flavor that you find on the edges of your tongue that lends a refreshing note to it. It’s an interesting beer and worth revisiting every “Autumn”. msjacilynn (18), St Paul, Minnesota, USA

Pours a clear, very dark cola color; fluffy, light tan head with great retention and lacing that coats the glass; a beautiful pour. Candy sugar and cola and toasted malts in the aroma; mildly sticky maltiness. Medium mouthfeel: solid malt core (maple syrup, dried red fruits: made me think "scotch ale") without much stickiness; very drinkable and well-composed autumn beer; light mineral hop bitterness on the perimeter. Some darker fruits and toasted malts appear in the finish. Unexpectedly good.
