Pours a clear burgundy-brown (garnet when held to light) with one finger of pitted, creamy, tan head which reduces to a thin layer at the surface. The nose is a muted hodgepodge of light chocolate, dark fruit (almost like a weak barley wine), faint nuttiness and the spicy essence of mincemeat. Individually any one of those notes would be pleasing, but together they seem a bit muddled. Medium-bodied and slick, upon swallowing, your tongue is stripped of moisture, forcing you to take another sip and repeat. The flavor is decidedly more integrated than the nose. Toasted bready malt with light chocolate notes and a solid backing of spice (mincemeat) that pulls everything together and finishes with a clean, dry, slightly warming finish. This is actually a pretty nice cool weather beer, and it makes me think of sitting on the porch and watching leaves as they fall from the trees to join there brethren on the lawn.

Meh....So this isnt an octoberfest. But I admit this bew does remind me of Autum. Dark brown in color....not much scent. The flavor is slightly bitter with alcohol and malty nuts. I like this better than I thought I would. ITs interesting to try once but not something I would enjoy regularly.

9-24-07 bottle. Dark ruby brown. Stagnant on the palate - very thick and heavy - oil like. Smoky flavor. Burning cherries and dirt aroma. Can taste a bit of the alcohol. Crap on the palate.

Bottle. Dry aroma (one of the few I’ve found recently), light toffee and toasted malt, strong nuttiness and slight syrupy grain-funk. Touch of peat? Near-pitch brown, otherwise closer to mahogany pour, with a creamy, rocky, lacing, gorgeous tan head. Very dry taste, lightly bitter with slight herbal hop funk, nutty with very slight roast and a faint bg medicinal quality. Caramel and Munich. Picks up some herbal prickly notes as I go along. Medium body is smooth and solid, alcohol is completely hidden, and the aftertaste is dry and regal. Not the most interesting beer, but this is wonderfully sessionable and classy in understatement - we’d be lucky to have more of this type, and I’d be happy to have this one again.

Before trying I assumed this would be an Oktoberfest, but smelled and tasted quite different. Poured black with a light tan head. Smell was a tart roasty maltiness, with slight smoky, almost peaty qualities to it. Taste is dark roastiness, tartness, a bit biscuity. Lightly carbonated, and a touch creamy, and while not bad, the peaty quality is not my favorite.

Autumn pours a dark coffee brown color w/ a very modest froth that is not only shy but shortlived also. A very thin ring of lace is all to show. Aromas of malted biscuits and mild gummy fruit. Medium nectar w/ mellow residual effers that turn creamy. Nice! A thick malty bockbone supports a very interesting flavor profile. Theres a mild spicey pine essence w/ slight biscuiting. A mild fruity character w/ nuancs of coffee and cooked caramel. The finish is bittered w/ pine and leaves a lingering spicey coffee flavor. An interesting brew. Reminds me of something that would come out of Switzerland.

This beer pours a deep brown almost black with little to no head. This beer is very roasted malts with a slight hint of hops. I really thought there would be a little more head to this thing. The flavors are very good though. Unlike the rating shows, I actually like this beer! This is a very decent beer! Cheers!

Misclassified? Probably! Dark reddish brown with a decent offwhite/tan head. Roast with a small bit of spice. Perhaps a bit of floral. A small bit of chocolate. Creamy with a nice bit of viscosity. A bit roasty with big diacetyl. A bit creamy. Low level of spice. Lingering roast, some diacetyl. Dry end finish.
