Dark amber pour with a small foamy off-white head. Sweet caramel malt, light chocolate, roasted grain and a touch of hops in the aroma. Flavor is similar, sweet toffee, though much lighter than expected from the color. Not bad, but not my style.

Draft at the brewpub. A deep red beer with a lazing light tan head. The aroma is sweet and very spicy combined with medium notes of nuts and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of fruit and vanilla, leading to a dry bitter and nutty finish.

Found this one in back of fridge. Barley and coffee aroma on the nose. Mahagany body with off white head. Flavor has more coffee and grains noticable. Some dry coco but no chocolate in mine. Maybe old but still decent brew.

Very, very dark brown; almost black; head is almost nonexistent, but there is a tiny ring of big, tan bubbles. Aroma is tart, and there is some chocolate and roast; light caramel and maybe just a hint of vanilla. Flavor is the same but even more tart, which is quite unpleasant; a tiny bit of alcohol warmth in the exhale. Thin and sticky. Lame brew; the tartness is nearly offensive.

I expected an amber. This poured like a porter. Very dark with small off white head. Aroma of roasted malt with a flavor that was very coffeeish. Low carbonation with a nice dry finish.

Bottle. Poured a small tan head that quickly dissipated, virtually no lacing to speak of, no carbonation observed, opaque, and a brown hue. Aroma was brown malt, lightly roasty, chocolate, bready, and caramel. Ditto for the flavor with a dry finish. Mouthfeel was smooth and light-medium in body. An easy drinking beer, nothing very special was noted about it, balanced, but not a beer that leaves me wanting it again. It’s not a bad beer by any means, it just isn’t one that I’ll seek out again.

Pours unexpectedly dark. Old Ale huh? Yeah, there’s a lot of caramel malt. Yeah, light hops to "balance". Maybe a little sweet. Not very exciting, but I only paid $1.

Bottle. Pours dark brown-red color with an off white head that vanishes quickly. Can’t pick up on the aroma, it seems pretty faint, maybe a bit of roasted grains, mildly caramel. Taste is roasted grains, and a bit of caramel with a bit of a spicy hop. Mouthfeel is medium. Finishes slightly dry. Aftertaste is not really much. Overall ok. Thanks LTJudge!
