Commercial Description:
Subtlety. That's what makes our Avalanche amber ale such a treat. We blend pale and caramel malts -- and just a kiss of bittering hops -- to create a refreshing-but-flavorful, any-time beer. Aromas of pale grains, a semi-sweet middle and a clean-as-Colorado-snow finish make this our best-selling beer.

Bottle @ home. Pours copper with a hint of red around the edges. Head is small and off white. The aroma is sweet malts, some sweet butter, light hops and caramel. The taste is a toned down version of the aroma. There is some sweet malt notes, more of the hops are present and very little in the way of the caramel remaining. The mouth feel is light to medium with a slight bitter hop finish.

Pour is very light amber/brown with a light tan head. Aroma is of malt and old gym socks. Flavor is lightly bitter with a hint of caramel finish (just like the description). This is a very bland brew so I can see how it is a best seller. Too many loser beer drinkers out there with crappy taste buds. Wouldn’t buy again.

Dark amber color......thick, pillowy head. Slightly sweet malt aroma. Light malt flavor in the front......slightly crisp mouthfeel. Somewhat of a bitter back, though with a very clean finish for the style.

Pours a mostly lasting amber color with a small, off-white, fizzy which fully diminishes and leaves no lace. Nose is is very faint with grains and some offputting vegetable with a mild bitteerness. Flavor is mildly better with some sweet grains and light caramel. palate is medorately light, lively, and watery. Finishes with a touch of dryness. Actually, despite the score, it was quite drinkable but certainly one of the less interestinf ambers.

Bottle. Pours an amber color with a thin tan head. Tates is of smoke, caramel, malt and is a little sweet. The aroma is the same. Pretty easy to drink and isn’t bad to have when it is on sale. Not as good as what I remember. I’ll have to revist this one.

Aroma is salty, green onion, and mushroomy barley malt. Dingy dark gold pour with no head. Tinny and bitter, rather unpleasant. Tastes like a weak english bitter. The consolation is it might pair well with some foods.

Typica amber. Not bad, not great. Good balance and carbonation. I would have liked a bit more caramel/malt in the flavor, but its a decent brew.
